Folklife and Superstition: The Luck, Lore, and Worldviews of Prairie Homesteaders, written by historian and sociologist Sandra Rollings-Magnusson, examines the beliefs, customs, and stories of those who settled in the Canadian Prairies from 1867 to 1914.

Oxbow Farmers Market to host 4th Annual Fall Festival
The Oxbow Farmers Market’s 4th Annual Fall Festival is set for October 19 at the Oxbow Community Hall, featuring a day filled with local vendors, family activities, and a special fundraising initiative. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year’s festival aims to raise funds for a new gazebo at the market's summer location, a project embraced by the community. "We are super excited to continue doing this, and our community has responded so well year after year," said Marilyn Simons.

Hundreds of kids from Hanover School Division middle schools gathered at AD Penner Park yesterday for their Cross-Country meet.
Vital Renaud, physical education teacher at Landmark Elementary says they brought 43 runners from their grades 5 and 6 classes.

Every year at this time of year, I clearly remember what I was doing in 1985.
It was mid-October when I got my first job in radio at 1050 CJNB - North Battleford.
I had just turned 20 and I got dropped off at a motel with two heavy hockey bags. One was full of clothing, shoes and toiletries while the other was packed with food, cutlery and an old electric frying pan.
