Welcome to another Made in Manitoba, as we kick off October with a visit with Winnipeg's Doug Edmond and his latest album "Life is Strange".

Doug is no stranger to performing on stages throughout the province, having regular gigs at a number of venues, in addition to his annual Doug's Dock Show at West Hawk Lake which is a well known boat-in Summer concert at the vacation spot.

The Cochrane Ghostbusters headed in historic downtown Cochrane on their first report of paranormal activities in town.

The Cochrane Public Library happens to have ghost-hunting kits available to borrow for anyone with a library card, so the team of three Cochrane Ghostbusters went into Found Books & Shop to explore the spooky happenings in their ancient basement. 

This weekend on the Canadian Country Showcase, catch Ontario recording artist Drew Taylor with his new single, Good Thing Going. American recording artist Tyler Braden also joins us with his single, Devil You Know. Plus, we’ll take a look back at this week in 2022 with a #1 hit from Dean Brody.

Cochrane’s own Lindsey Hopkins has locked in a top ten spot in a contest that could see her artwork tuned into a puzzle sold across the country.

The local artist beat out 120 other entries to lock in a spot in the Villager Puzzles Instagram contest that is all about elevating women artists.

The final tree fruit roundup collection takes place Saturday, Oct. 5, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the town lagoon, 141 Bow Bend Way, by the SLS Centre.

Meet Pepper: A Sweet Tabby Looking for a Quiet Home

Pepper, a stunning black and grey tabby with striking markings, is about three years old and has been waiting patiently for her forever home for over a year at our shelter. Now, we’re hoping to find her a **Permanent Foster Home** that could eventually lead to adoption.

Pepper thrives in a calm, quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. She needs a home with gentle, patient humans who can give her the tender affection she craves, and ideally, a feline housemate who respects her space. 

One of the quickest ways to build community bonds is through food. This weekend, the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of All Saints in Morden (which operates out of St. Thomas Anglican Church) is hosting a Thanksgiving Fall Supper with a menu that is a delicious way to foster connections.

A flourishing community 

The fall supper comes after an eventful year for the church. In April, it celebrated ten years in the Pembina Valley.

The Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre is gearing up for a significant event aimed at supporting early childhood development in the community. With a special focus on parents, day home operators, daycare staff, and educators, the upcoming Early Childhood Summit will take place on October 19 at Southeast College, offering guidance from three local leaders on early childhood education and care.
