As summer winds down, the Estevan Chamber of Commerce is wrapping up a season of signature events — from riding the rails with Long Creek Railroad to teeing off at Networking on the Green. But before fall arrives, there’s one more key item on the calendar: nominations are now in the final stretch for the 2025 EBEX Awards.
A global adventure: Classic 107 cruises around the world at Folklorama
Folklorama started on Sunday, and it feels like the Classic 107 Summer Cruiser has travelled the world.
On Sunday, the Cruiser began its journey in Ukraine by visiting the Spirit of Ukraine Pavilion at Soul Sanctuary, located at 2050 Chevrier Boulevard.
After that, the Cruiser zoomed off to the Centro Caboto Centre for the Italian Pavilion at 1055 Wilkes Avenue. We ended the night off at the Pembina Curling Club, 1341 Pembina Highway, for the Argentina-Tango Pavilion.

I think it's great. I'm there for amusement and to do some entertaining myself from time to time and to stay informed about what's topical for friends and acquaintances. It's useful that way.
For me, the novelty has never worn off and, it turns out, I'm in the majority.

McCafé Coffee Break fuels the fur-tastic team at Pet Valu
The team at Pet Valu Cochrane was fuelled up and ready to roll after receiving a surprise McCafé Coffee Break on Tuesday morning.
CochraneNow and Cochrane McDonald’s stopped by with all the bells and whistles, treating the team to McCafé coffee and cookies to kick off their day.

Anonymous donor helps SAAR launch new adoption campaign
Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue (SAAR) is offering a new incentive to help dozens of cats and kittens find their forever homes.
Thanks to an anonymous donor, SAAR is offering reduced adoption fees and free starter kits with every cat adoption until the end of August.
Michelle Neufeld, President of SAAR, says the donor pledged up to $10,000 to support a campaign to ease pressure on the shelter.
Cancer survivor swims across Lake Winnipeg, raising thousands
A former Winnipegger and cancer survivor attempted to swim across Lake Winnipeg on August long to support others battling cancer.
"It was tough to decide which day to go as every day was windy," says Jonathon Fenton. "We had a little opening on Sunday, where it was windy for the first three hours. I was swimming in the chop, like a cork in a washing machine, just bouncing around."
The 61-year-old, two-time cancer survivor ventured out on Lake Winnipeg at Grand Beach and started to swim the long way across to Gimli on Aug. 3.
