The Winkler Harvest Festival is back this August with a full weekend of community celebration, local flavour, and big-name entertainment. Organizers say this year will be one of the most inclusive and exciting events the city has seen.
The free three-day event, running August 8 to 10, offers something for every age and interest. Whether you’re a fan of live music, local vendors, midway rides, or cool indoor activities, there is no shortage of things to experience. Behind the scenes, Karina Bueckert and the team at KB Marketing have been working hard to make it all happen.

Community spirit shines at Heritage Village weekend in Midale
The sights, sounds, and spirit of prairie life from decades past were on full display over the weekend at the annual Threshing Days in Midale, hosted by the Souris Valley Antique Association and Midale Museum.
The weekend kicked off with a popular pancake breakfast on Main Street, where visitors gathered before hopping on the “people mover” shuttle to the Heritage Village grounds. From there, the day unfolded with a packed schedule of hands-on demonstrations, heritage tours, and family activities.
Barn dance with JJ Voss to support Stoughton Early Learning Facility outdoor upgrades
A barn dance fundraiser at Keg Creek Ranch is set to bring music, supper and community spirit together on Aug. 29, with proceeds going toward outdoor upgrades at the Stoughton Early Learning Facility.
“We’ve got the gates open at 5:30 and we’ve got supper at 6:30,” said organizer Kerry Gilroy. “We’re going to have a barn dance with JJ Voss at 8:00, and we’re raising money for the Stoughton Early Learning Facility.”

Nickle Lake Regional Park is getting ready for their annual Halloween in the Park on August 16th, with prizes for best-decorated campsites and costumes.
"Anybody who wants to help sponsor some candy or some prizes for the site decorating contest and stuff like that," invited Park Manager Darren Wheeler.

It was last month when we got the good news. The unemployment rate in the Moose Jaw / Swift Current region is the lowest in Canada. In fact, the local region was tied with the Yorkton / Melville area for the lowest in the country.
More people are working, and the labour force is growing.
However, there are challenges for employers who need people with specific skill sets. That's why we have around 15,000 job vacancies in our province.

Local playwright set to showcase profound production
A former drama student at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School is preparing to debut his latest production, coming up next week at the Lyric Theatre.
Homebodies, a historical fiction play that explores the past, present, and family ties, will be featured on August 13 and 14, with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. and shows beginning around 7:30 p.m.
Steele Prefontaine, the writer and producer of the production, shared that his brother, Slayte, will be directing the production.
