Seed and Feed a strong start for seeding season near Cadillac

A local pedigreed seed producer near Cadillac says the 2025 seeding season has been a successful one to date, thanks to well-timed rainfall making for ideal growing conditions.

Troy LaForge, who runs a diversified operation, says the season began with some concern about dry conditions, but recent moisture has brought optimism.

Portage library prepares for 47th annual book sale 

The Portage la Prairie Regional Library is gearing up for its 47th annual book sale, set to begin June 28 and run through to August 30, just after the Canada Day long weekend. 

Suzy Laevens, the library’s clerk, graphic designer and longtime book sale coordinator, says it’s the library’s biggest fundraiser of the year and one that continues to grow. 

Gemma Perdomo loves nature and needs your vote to become the 2025 Jr. Ranger

Gemma Perdomo is seven years old, calls Gretna home and absolutely loves nature. She is trying to become the 2025 Jr. Ranger! The Jr. Ranger Competition is a nationwide adventure for kids ages 4-12 who love the great outdoors. One young explorer will earn $20,000, appear in a Ranger Rick Jr. magazine and learn from wildlife expert Jeff Corwin—who’s also hosting the competition!

McDonalds is for the Grads!

As we close in on another graduating class, once again the team at McDonald's in Swift Current are stepping up to support them the best way they can!

Today from 5-7pm, you can head to McDonald's, either drive thru or dine in, and get yourself something tasty for supper, or dinner, or a snack, or whatever you may need, and 10% of all sales will go towards the graduating class in 2025!

Students from the SCCHS graduating class will be on hand tonight working, greeting folks and there to help make the experience a fun one!

It’s been raining cats and dogs — mostly dogs — in this month’s Perfect Pet Contest!
