Local group of nurses unite to celebrate and reflect on Nursing week

A local group of nurses came together to commemorate the end of nursing week this past Saturday.

Nursing Week occurred this year the week of May 12-18. Nursing Week came about from celebrating the birthday, May 12, of Florence Nightingale, who is regarded as the pioneer of modern nursing.

“A simple appreciation makes our work lighter,” remarked Melissa, a nurse, about the importance of acknowledging nurses and nursing week.

Carnie's Comments

It's Tuesday - Twitter Tuesday! I find the best of the best just for you.

Tweets like this one from a single fella who says, "Even my imaginary friend got bored and left me a note saying 'we should see other people'."

This guy says, "My great grandfather fought in World War II for my freedom and here I am, sitting in a recliner and ordering prescription dog food for my dog from my telephone."

I like this, "If you have leftover cake and you have it with a cup of coffee in the morning, it is, in fact, an acceptable breakfast."

McGillivray in the morning moments

Every once in a while, things just go your way. I was out on an evening Moose Cruise last night and found 7. I cruised up on two about 7:20, but they were on the wrong side of the road. My concern was, they were very close to the road, and they might flee.

I never even slowed down; I just kept going past them and took my chance. About a quarter of a mile down the road I turned around and slowly came back.

Seed N Feed lunches keep farmers energized through soggy spring

Eagles Farms received a tasty lunch courtesy of Southern Plains Co-op, delivered straight to the field as part of Seed N Feed.

“We’re about two-thirds done, probably before the rain,” said Terry Eagles. “We’ve got, I don’t know, probably 2,000 acres left. So yeah, we should be done here by the end of the week if we can get going.”

Heavy rain slowed progress. “We probably lost a few acres... everything was just so saturated. We got close to five inches around here,” he said.
