The 2025 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Draft will take place on Tuesday afternoon.  

This past weekend at the annual general meeting, the organizations ratified a motion to adjust the SJHL’s policy on the automatic protection of players who reside in the zones where the teams are located.

Harmony House opens with the support of government and Futuristic Industries

A beautiful new integrated and masterfully designed home for six Humboldt residents has gone up at the corner of 3rd Street and 7th Avenue in Humboldt. The home houses residents with varying disabilities in a supportive environment. Dubbed Harmony House, the home is a partnership between Futuristic Industries and the Government of Saskatchewan who provided $1.6 million in capital funding and $360,000 in annual operational funding.

GST relief on new homes could save 1st-time buyers up to $240 on mortgages: report

The Liberal plan to give first-time homebuyers a tax break on a newly built home could have substantial impacts on housing affordability — with a few caveats — a new analysis finds.

The Liberal government introduced legislation on June 5 to eliminate the GST portion from new home sales of up to $1 million for first-time buyers, which works out to as much as $50,000 off the cost of a new build or a substantially renovated unit.

For homes sold above $1 million, the GST relief is phased out as the price tag nears $1.5 million.

Canada Post rejects union terms for arbitration as both sides enter bitter stalemate

A government push to steer Canada Post and the union representing 55,000 mail workers toward common ground hit a big pothole Monday.

As an increasingly acrimonious impasse drags on, Canada Post rejected a framework put forward by the union for a binding arbitration process, which Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu asked the parties to work toward just five days earlier.

Road Closures Tuesday and Wednesday in Humboldt

A high-quality dust control product will be applied in areas of the City on Tuesday and Wednesday

To reduce the tracking of the product, the City of Humboldt is planning road closures on several roadways. 

Planned Closures:

12th Avenue from Lane west of 21st Street to Peck Road
102nd Street from 8th Avenue to 4th Avenue (6th Avenue through 102nd St will remain open)
Sask Avenue from Main Street to 3rd Street
101st Street from 4th Avenue to 2nd Avenue
