SaskPower announces a planned power outage for areas of Lanigan on Wednesday, July 9 from 9 am to 4 pm. 

The areas in Lanigan affected are the 0 blocks of Howard Crescent and Folley Crescent.

The outage is due to system maintenance. SaskPower thanks customers for their cooperation and understanding. 

Sixteen-year-old Camden Suchan is gearing up for another incredibly busy summer of baseball. Not only is the pitcher and third base player currently busy with her home team, the East Central 15U AAA Dodgers, but she has a role to play on three different Team Sask squads as each gears up for national competitions.  

Rainfall at the end of June was welcomed by local producers in hopes of improved crop conditions.  

According to the latest Crop Report from the Ministry of Agriculture, areas northeast of Humboldt received the highest amount of rainfall between June 24-30.  

It was a busy weekend for the East Central 18UAAA Red Sox with two double headers, one at home and one away. 

Saturday's matchups did not go the Red Sox way as they fell 5 - 3 and 15 - 3 to the Regina Athletics.

A new report by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is dismissing moves by the federal government and Canada's premiers to break down internal trade barriers as little more than "political theatre."

It lands just ahead of the country’s internal trade ministers meeting in Quebec City this week, where they are expected to talk about their next steps as they rush to remove rules hampering cross-provincial trade.

Canada’s top soldier is looking forward to a boost in military spending that includes a pay raise for military personnel at a time when uncertainty on the world stage is high.

NATO leaders — including Canada — have approved a plan to dramatically increase defence spending across the Western alliance to five per cent of gross domestic product over the next decade.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said the move to five per cent of GDP — 3.5 per cent for core military spending and 1.5 per cent for defence-related infrastructure — will take place over the next 10 years.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) says it is working with communities and residents impacted by the early and challenging start to the 2025 wildfire season, helping them begin the recovery and rebuilding process.

The SPSA’s Recovery Task Team is coordinating the province’s efforts to assess community needs and provide support following wildfire damage. The team is made up of representatives from the SPSA as well as other provincial ministries, including Environment, Social Services, and Government Relations. Other ministries may be involved as needed.

The Water Security Agency is reminding the public that this is the time of year when blue-green algae starts appearing in lakes and reservoirs. 

Blue-green algae blooms occur during calm, hot weather in bodies of water that are shallow, slow-moving or still, and contain sufficient nutrients. 

The algae is a naturally occurring bacteria that is bluish-green in colour, but blooms can also appear bright blue, grey or tan.
