3 long-serving WPS officers charged in major breach of trust investigation
Three Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) officers face criminal charges after an investigation into allegations of breach of trust.
The investigation, led by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) with support from the WPS Professional Standards Unit, began in early 2024 when the WPS became aware of potential misconduct within its ranks according to releases from both organizations.

Quincy Jones dies at 91, leaves legacy across musical genres
Quincy Jones, the trailblazing producer, arranger, and musician whose influence touched nearly every corner of the music world, has died.
Jones' publicists confirmed the producer died on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, at his home in Bel Air.
Growing up in Chicago, Jones' early life was shaped by the vibrant but challenging environment of the city’s South Side. He discovered music as a form of solace and self-expression, and by his teens, he was already playing trumpet and arranging music professionally.

3 hospitalized after fire in downtown Winnipeg apartment
Three people were taken to hospital on Friday night after a fire broke out in a four-storey apartment building in downtown Winnipeg.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the 200 block of Vaughan Street at 6:50 p.m., according to a release from the City of Winnipeg.
When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the building.
Firefighters helped some residents escape from the building. Other residents had managed to get out on their own before crews arrived.
