First-ever Ukrainian Orthodox Easter service in Cochrane
Cochrane's vibrant Ukrainian community held its first-ever Ukrainian Orthodox Easter service on April 19 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, lead by Father Vasyl Hnativ, of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor.
Agricultural Water Management Fund application deadline coming up April 30
The 2025 Agricultural Water Management Fund is now accepting applications. This fund aims to support agricultural producers and local governments in developing effective water management projects.

Local courts, fields and ball diamonds will open for spring and summer action on April 25, depending on weather conditions.
The Town of Cochrane says tennis and pickleball courts will be ready for community use at several popular locations.
William Camden Park in Glenbow will offer two tennis courts, while Quigley Courts in East End features four pickleball courts and two tennis courts.
Over a dozen sports fields and ball diamonds will also be open for casual play across town.

On April 25, around 5:30 a.m, Venus, Saturn, and a thin crescent moon will form a triangular pattern resembling a sideways smiley face.
Venus will shine brightly above the horizon, with Saturn appearing slightly lower and to the left. The crescent moon will sit below them, forming the "smile."

Cochrane’s Dillon Dubé on trial in 2018 assault case
Cochrane native Dillon Dubé is among five former members of Canada’s world junior hockey team standing trial in London, Ontario, in connection to an alleged sexual assault dating back to 2018.
Dubé, along with Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton, has pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault. McLeod faces an additional charge of being a party to the offence of sexual assault.
The charges stem from an alleged incident in London in June 2018.

The mother of a Calgary murder suspect has testified her son was having hallucinations and was in fear of animalistic creatures months before a young woman was stabbed to death on a downtown street.
Michael Adenyi, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of fitness instructor Vanessa Ladouceur. The 30-year-old was walking to work on the morning of March 18, 2022, when she was attacked.
