In 1981, The Canadian Dietetic Association, now (Dietitians of Canada) and all the provincial dietetic associations jointly sponsored the first National Nutrition Week with the primary purpose of the campaign to increase public awareness about the importance of healthy eating.

The Prairie Singers are an auditioned adult-community choir in Southern Manitoba with a love for great choral music and great fellowship.

They are performing a pair of concerts this Saturday with the title "Song of the Universal". The pieces are based off a work by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo that are inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman. The pieces incorporate a string orchestra so both concerts will also feature The Post Road Strings from The Douglas Kuhl School of Music.
