UPDATE: RCMP arrests assault suspect

Update:

Portage la Prairie is reporting that Lee-Anne Daniels was arrested without incident just after noon today (April 27). 

The 38-year-old was wanted on assault charges.

Daniels will appear in court on April 28. The RCMP would like to that the public in locating Daniels.

The Portage la Prairie RCMP has issued an arrest warrant following an assault that took place in the city.

Portage woman facing impaired driving charges 

A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer patrolled the area last week when he observed a vehicle driving suspiciously.  

In the early hours of last Saturday, the officer conducted a traffic stop on Saskatchewan Avenue West near 2nd Street NW.  

The officer asked the driver to provide a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device. The result of which was a Fail.  

The 30-year-old woman from Portage was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Vehicle.  

UPDATE: Man released from custody after 'suspicious' fire kills three in Portage

Update-

The Manitoba RCMP says that they are continuing to investigate the suspicious deaths of three individuals located in a residence on 7th Street SE in Portage.

Officers are reportedly working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of the deaths and to confirm identities.

The adult man who was placed into custody yesterday has since been released.

RCMP find possible drunk driver stuck following crash

Portage la Prairie RCMP has demanded a driver who crashed on Road 64 North to provide a blood sample.

Police say on April 2nd, at 8:26 p.m., they received a call about the collision and when they arrived, they saw the vehicle stuck between snow and trees.

The 37-year-old woman from Long Plain First Nation who was driving the car was freed by shoveling the snow from the driver's door. She was then taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Portage RCMP responds to stolen items from a pickup truck 

Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of stolen items out of the back of a pickup truck last week.  

Last Wednesday, March 30, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call that items were stolen out of the back of a pickup truck.  

The items were reportedly stolen sometime overnight in the 500 block of Tupper Street North. 

The RCMP says they would like to remind the public to secure all items as they become easy targets for thieves.

Portage RCMP use spike belt to obtain wanted Ontario man 

Officers in Portage la Prairie got the rare chance to use their spike belt earlier this week. 

Monday afternoon (April 4), Manitoba RCMP received information from Moosomin RCMP that a man driving a stolen vehicle had refused to stop, attempted to ram officers, and fled on Highway 1 going eastbound. 

A description of the vehicle was obtained, and RCMP officers in the Brandon area spotted the vehicle travelling at a speed of over 200 km/hr along Highway 1. An attempt to stop the vehicle was unsuccessful, and the last known sighting was relayed to Portage la Prairie RCMP. 

UPDATE: Stonewall RCMP continues to investigate found human remains

Update -

Manitoba RCMP is reporting today (April 5) that it will be handling the investigation of found remains in the RM of Woodlands as a homicide.

They note that the investigation is in the early stages, and more information will be provided when available.

Major Crime Services continues to investigate the case.
