An Alberta clipper is expected to impact parts of central Saskatchewan bringing a mix of precipitation beginning Saturday morning.
Southeastern and southern Saskatchewan will see warmer temperatures with showery activity during the day Saturday, followed by a period of snow and intense winds with the passage of a cold front Saturday evening.
Humboldt Theatre Club welcome all to Sign Up Night
Preparations are already gearing up for the next Humboldt Theatre Club production. The Club is hosting an Auditions and Behind the Scenes Sign Up Night on November 19 at 7:00 pm and November 20 at 3:00 pm. The auditions will be held in a new location this year, the Reid-Thompson Public Library, says Sarah Miller with the Humboldt Theatre Club.
“What we want to do is have people come out who are interested in acting or perhaps helping behind the scenes with sound, lights, makeup, props or even prompting.”
Government of Saskatchewan held career fair for Ukrainian refugees
On November 1, the Government of Saskatchewan hosted a career fair for Ukrainian refugees. It took place at the Viterra International Trade Centre in Regina.
The Government of Saskatchewan said that around 90 employers, agencies, and chambers of commerce were on hand to provide information about employment opportunities across Saskatchewan. Representatives from the agriculture, construction, health, hospitality, industrial manufacturing, mining, retail, tech, and transportation industries also participated.
Traffic restriction on Highway 20 at Sask Avenue
A note from the City of Humboldt on local traffic:
On Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4, an excavation will be occurring on the north east side of the Sask Avenue and Hwy 20 intersection. Expect one-lane traffic on Hwy 20 through the work zone. Sask Avenue will not be accessible during the work. Please find alternate routes. Please slow down and follow all traffic controls. Humboldt Broncos Memorials Committee awaiting progress on crash site
Families and their supporters of those involved in the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy trekked to the crash site on October 29 to collect the many mementoes left by well-wishers at the site. A release forwarded by the Humboldt Broncos Memorials Committee and the City of Humboldt stated that the action was in aid of preparing the site for development of a permanent memorial starting in 2023.
Moe issues apology for "unequivocal error"
Premier Scott Moe took responsibility and apologized for what he called “an unequivocal error” regarding the presence of convicted murderer Colin Thatcher at his “tough on crime” throne speech. That statement came on Monday, along with further action, following a weekend of criticism levied for the invitation MLA Lyle Stewart sent to the 85-year-old convicted felon.
Government provides funding for more Educational Assistants in school
The effectiveness of Saskatchewan school classrooms hinges on skilled and qualified teachers, but it is also critically dependent on the support of educational assistants (EAs). They highly trained support staff who work one-on-one or in groups with higher needs to students to ensure education is available to all.
Broncos go 1 and 1 in weekend pairing with North Stars
The Battlefords North Stars established themselves as a league juggernaut in the early going of the SJHL season. It wasn’t until the Melfort Mustangs handed the Stars a loss in a shoot out that a team proved the Stars and its goalie, Josh Kotai, were assailable. The Humboldt Broncos found the answer on the back end of a weekend home and home with the North Stars.
One time grant to help daycares with management transitions
Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement brings along with it some regulatory changes for day care centres in terms of administration. To offset any costs daycares might experience, the governments of Saskatchewan and Canada are setting up a one-time grant of $1.1 million in federal funding.
Child amputee finds inspiration from Second World War Veteran
Eight-year-old Isla McCallum is an energetic young girl with a big smile, and Charlie Jefferson, 98, is a veteran of the Second World War. At first glance, these two appear to have little in common, yet they share something special: They are both amputees.
Mr. Jefferson served as a Lieutenant with the Queen’s Own Rifles Regiment. In 1945, in the Rhine Valley, Germany, he was injured by an anti-personnel mine explosion, resulting in the loss of his left leg below the knee.
