RCMP search for break and enter suspect near Pleasantdale
On the evening of July 6, 2024, Melfort RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at a rural property in the RM of Pleasantdale.
Police responded to the scene but the suspect(s) had already left the area before police arrived. A female suspect was captured on video surveillance and police are requesting the public's assistance in identifying her.
*Update* Saskatoon RCMP investigating after explosive devices found in rural mailboxes
The Saskatoon RCMP received a report on Sunday, July 7 that several mailboxes near Sunset Estates in the RM of Blucher were broken into
and suspicious objects left in them. An investigation determined one of the mailboxes was damaged by an explosive device.
This morning, just before 10:00 am, Saskatoon RCMP received a separate report of an explosive device placed in a mailbox rural road 3040 in the RM of Corman Park.
Woman hospitalized after single vehicle collision near intersection of HWY #5 & HWY #41
A 23-year old woman has been hospitalized following a single vehicle collision near Saskatoon on Sunday morning.
At around 6:15 am, on July 7, 2024, police responded to the call of a vehicle accident with injuries near the intersection of Highway #5 and Highway #41.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle in a ditch, that is believed to have rolled numerous times. The vehicle had also started on fire. Saskatoon Fire was on the scene to extinguish the fire and assist in extracting the driver from the vehicle.
Smoky conditions expected to improve by tonight
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Special Air Quality Statement remains in effect for the Humboldt and Watrous areas.
Smoky conditions are set to persist in the province today due to a trough of low-pressure concentrating wildfire smoke, leading to poor air quality and reduced visibility.
SGEU's largest bargaining unit settles on three year contract
A release from the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU) indicates its Public Service/Government Employment (PS/GE) bargaining unit has voted to accept the latest offer from the provincial government. The newly ratified three-year collective agreement spans from October 1, 2022 to September 31, 2025.
RCMP asking public to report sightings of correction centre escapees
On July 7, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report that two adult males escaped from a correctional centre in Yorkton. Yorkton RCMP have been working to locate the two males and is now asking the public to report sightings and information on the whereabouts of 30-year-old Brett Schnieder and 22-year-old Chase Ahpay.
Brett Schnieder and Chase Ahpay are both wanted on warrant by Yorkton RCMP for being unlawfully at large.
Humboldt RCMP investigating a fatal collision in Watrous
On Thursday, July 4 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Humboldt RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on 1st Avenue in Watrous.
Officers responded immediately along with local fire and EMS. Investigation determined a truck collided with a parked semi. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as a 32-year-old female from Watrous. Her family has been notified.
Weekend sports update
There's plenty of local baseball to catch this weekend. It gets going on Saturday when the East Central AAA 15U Dodgers take on
the Yorkton Cardinals in a double header at Centennial Park starting at noon.
We've also got the 18U AAA Red Sox at James Korte Field in a double header with the Parkland Expos. That's noon at James
Korte Field.
If you're in Watrous this weekend the 18UAA team will take to the field on Saturday at 1:00 against the PA Royals and again on Sunday at noon for a double header with the Weyburn Angels.

Humboldt/Lanigan RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating individual(s) responsible for theft that occurred from a vehicle at a business located in Humboldt on 8 avenue on the 10000 block between the hours of Friday, June 14, 2024 at 5:00 pm and Monday June 17, 2024 at 5:00 pm.
The suspect(s) stole a toolbox containing tools with the estimated cost of over $5000.00.
