The Humboldt Early Years Family Resource Centre (HEYFRC) was thrilled to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library on Tuesday with a reading of The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper, family literacy activities, and recognition of sponsors.
CTSS reports numerous violations during Canada Safe Driving Week
Traffic check stops during Canada’s safe driving week, held from December 1-7 were a reminder that there is work to be done in making roadways safer. Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) consisting of municipal police forces and RCMP deployed check stops throughout the province.
Grinch and the gang take over the Elizabeth
The bean-green not so meany and his pals checked into the Elizabeth for the afternoon on Sunday for the meet and greet.
Dozens of kids and families lined up for a picture with the Grinch and a chance to meet Cindy Lou Who and long-suffering canine sidekick Max at the event. The Grinch was in fine form, and despite the gruff exterior, Grinchy welcomed everyone with a heart that grew several sizes with each child’s visit.
Police vehicles rammed as Carrot River RCMP apprehend fuel thief
Carrot River RCMP faced tense situation in apprehending a would-be fuel thief in Arborfield.
On December 7, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Carrot River RCMP received a call and responded to the incident.
Humboldt families the big winners with Broncos Teddy Bear toss
The Humboldt Broncos bench cleared just 32 seconds into Saturday night's matchup against the Melville Millionaires at the EPA.
That's because a couple hundred teddy bears hit the ice following the opening goal in the Teddy Bear toss. Broncos help gather up the fuzzy bruins all bound for homes thanks to the Humboldt Community Soup Kitchen.
That early goal, courtesy of Spencer Bell, was the opener on the way to a 5-3 victory for the Broncos.
SJFHL's Klippers play in St. Brieux on Sunday
You have a great chance to catch Saskatchewan Junior Female Hockey League action right in our own back yard. The Western Prairie Klippers, featuring the home grown talents of St. Brieux’s Bridgette Vedress and Humboldt’s Kiana Leicht, will take on the 18UAAA Northeast Aces in St. Brieux on December 10. Puck drop is at 3:00 pm at the St. Brieux Arena.
City proposes 2024 municipal tax increase of 4.58 percent
The City of Humboldt’s proposed 2024 City Budget was presented to City Council in a Special Meeting of Council held on Monday, December 4, 2023. Mayor Behiel led Council and Administration through all budget cost centres, as well as nine capital projects for 2024 and seven capital projects for 2025. Following discussion on each topic, Council endorsed the budget proposed by Administration, albeit opposing one request from Administration.
Break, enter and theft at 8th Avenue retail business
A business in the 1700 Block of 8th Avenue was the victim of a break, enter and theft sometime in the early morning hours of December 6. The thieves gained entrance by smashing the glass out of the main entrance door.
The business owner reported the loss of a number of digital games and gaming consoles with an undetermined value. The incident has been reported to the RCMP.

Broncos tame Terriers on Tuesday
The Humboldt Broncos got back in the win column following last night's victory over the Yorkton Terriers. The Broncos fell to the Flin Flon Bombers in their weekend test. The Broncos had a strong winning record on the line in the Tuesday night fray.
Two-vehicle collision near Tisdale claims a life
Tisdale RCMP report that a vehicle collision south of Tisdale on Highway 3 has left a male deceased.
RCMP responded to the call of the collision at approximately 2:00 pm on December 3. Initial investigation has determined a SUV and a car collided at an intersection on Highway #3.
The male driver and lone occupant of the car was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 57-year-old from Prince Albert and his family has been notified.
