BHP donates $200,000 to Humboldt District Hospital Foundation
BHP presented the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation with a $200,000.00 donation in support of priority equipment needs.
BHP’s donation will enable the Foundation to commit to funding two bladder scanners that will support Inpatients, emergency and Home Care; Glidescope for emergency as well as enhanced operating room equipment that will benefit our surgeons and their patients.
Dodgers and Red Sox work a weekend on the diamonds
Once again, it was a busy weekend on Saskatchewan’s ball diamonds with local teams in the chase for provincial glory. Congratulations to the Humboldt U11 Thunder parents, coaches and volunteers on hosting a successful weekend provincial tournament.
Aquatic centre and fitness room closing soon for maintenance
The City of Humboldt Community and Leisure Services Department announces the shutdown of the aquatic centre and fitness room for maintenance starting on July 31 and running until August 18.
All memberships will be paused and then resume when the facility reopens.
Warman RCMP needs help locating missing 28-year-old male
Warman RCMP is requesting help in locating a missing individual.
On June 30, 2023, Warman RCMP received a report of a missing 28-year-old male, Spencer Ulrich. Spencer was last seen on Elizabeth Street in Warman on June 21, 2023 at approximately 9 a.m.
RCMP contend with three fatal long weekend collisions
Each year on the July long weekend as traffic increases, RCMP and emergency responders are called on to react to an increased number of collisions. Sadly, some of those result in tragic consequences. Such was the case this long weekend as Saskatchewan RCMP responded to three fatal roadway incidents from June 30 to July 2.
Revenue surplus means lower debt - Government of Saskatchewan
Finance Minister and Humboldt – Watrous MLA Donna Harpauer says that Saskatchewan’s finances closed out the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year strong. $1.5 billion of its $1.58 billion surplus went into reducing the provincial operating debt, which will realize a saving of $66 million annually in interest.
The government release states that revenue increases largely due to high oil and potash prices as well as higher Corporation Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST) revenue in 2022-23.
Highway 15 between Simpson and Kenaston to see improvements
Highway 15, the east-west corridor that connects the Nokomis and Simpson regions to Kenaston and Highway 11 is getting a new lease on life. A two-year construction project is now under way that will include construction of a subgrade, widening and resurfacing.
Call for agencies to submit proposals for intergrated youth services
The Government of Saskatchewan, in conjunction with the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan (JHSS) is putting the call out for agencies to operate integrated youth services sites. The plan is to better serve the needs of youth and their families with coordinated access to a wide variety of supports and services for everything from mental health to education.
SJHL season announced; Broncos open at home on Sept. 23
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has released its 2023-2024 schedule, and the Humboldt Broncos open up the season with a home and home against rivals Notre Dame Hounds on September 23 and 24. Fans will get their first hometown look at this year’s roster on Saturday, Sept. 23. Home games this year will start at 7:00 pm.
This years’ schedule will feature 56 games and includes the SJHL Showcase which will be held November 13th to 16th in Warman, Saskatchewan.
