SaskEnergy “going solar” to cut emissions at its Town Border Stations

SaskEnergy announces a project toward its continued commitment of reducing emissions in its operations. The provincial gas utility has converted its Town Border Station in southwest Regina to generate solar power as part of its commitment to cut emissions.

The Regina station is the first of several such facilities across Saskatchewan that will be converted to generate solar power over the next seven years. The increased use of renewable electricity is one of the pillars of SaskEnergy’s emissions-reduction roadmap.

Seasonal customers may save as SaskPower adjusts demand charges

Plenty of individuals and agencies need a power supply all year long without being fully operational in certain months. Ice rinks, some farms, campgrounds, and ski hills are the types of operations that will see some meter relief as SaskPower adjusts its demand charges.

A release by SaskPower explains that demand charges are necessary for customers who use large amounts of power over a short period because the utility must hold adequate power capacity in reserve in case the customer needs it.

Youth writers take centre stage at the Gallery on Wednesday

After two amazing Local Writers Nights, the Humboldt and District Gallery is thrilled to announce their first Youth Writers Night, featuring young writers from local and regional high schools.

According to Englefeld School ELA 7-12 Teacher, Merrissa Karmark, “Celebrating student writing in a public way is so important! This Youth Writers Night is an opportunity for young writers to practice sharing their work aloud. Perhaps more importantly, though, it is a space for them to connect with a community of people as passionate about writing as they are.”
