Manitoba Agriculture's latest cattle marketing report for the week ending  February 2nd shows 

The latest report from Manitoba Auction Marts shows the average weekly price for feeder steers ranged from $278.75 per cwt for the 901+ lb category to $438.91 per cwt for the 401-500 lb category. 

Feeder heifer prices ranged from $241.33 per cwt for the 900+ lb category to $377.97 per cwt for the 401- 500 lb category.

D1-D2 slaughter cows selling for an average price of $122.28 per cwt,  while D3 cows were selling at $105.80 per cwt.

In Saskatchewan, there were 12,676 Saskatchewan feeder cattle marketed over the week ending February 2, that's almost double the 6,603 head of feeder cattle marketed the week before.

The Ministry of Agriculture's latest cattle marketing report notes there was limited data available for feeder steers with just two weight categories reported. 

The average price for the 400-500 lb steer category was $423.25 per cwt, while the average price for the 500-600lb steer category was $401.67 per cwt.

The Saskatchewan 750 lb. feeder steer basis could not be calculated due to the local price not being reported.

Feeder heifers prices ranged from $377 per cwt for the 400-500 lb weight category, to $274.50 per cwt for the 800+lb weight category. 

The 500-600lb heifer category had a week-over-week increase of $11.16 per cwt and averaged $342.58 per cwt for the week.   

The Canfax price for Alberta fed steers on the week ending February 2 was $217.50 per cwt.

According to the report that's down from the last Alberta fed steer price established on January 12, which was at $218.75 per cwt. 

Stats show that's higher than the price established for the same week last year which was $191.61 per cwt.

Prices on Alberta cows were mixed on the week ending February 2.  

The price of D2 slaughter cows averaged $130.20 per cwt, which was up $2.87 per cwt over the previous week.  

In contrast, the price of D3 slaughter cows was down $3.35 per cwt from the previous week to average $111.13 per cwt.

The Alberta rail price came in at $255-$260 per cwt which is $5 over the last week on both ends.
