Over the last few days, we've seen protests pop up across the country over the increase in the Federal Carbon Tax.

As of Monday, the Federal Carbon Tax jumped $15 a tonne to $80 a tonne - a 23 per cent increase.

In the last few weeks, seven premiers have called for a pause on the increase from Ottawa or to scrap it altogether.

However, the Federal Government moved ahead with the increase pushing the carbon price tax forward, resulting in a 3 cent a litre jump at the pumps.

Ottawa's overall goal is to encourage people to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels while reducing pollution.

The Federal Carbon Price Tax plan would see continued increases to the tax on the price of carbon moving to $170 a tonne by 2030.

Last week, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Alberta's Danielle Smith and New Brunswick's Blaine Higgs testified at a parliamentary committee against the carbon tax.

Meantime, Manitoba's Premier Wab Kinew has said his government would take on the Prime Minister's challenge to find an alternative to the carbon tax.
