Manitoba's weekly crop report shows 60% of the winter wheat and 72 per cent of the fall rye has been harvested along with 3 per cent of the spring wheat and oats,
15 percent of the barley, 20 per cent of the field peas. Some of the canola has just started coming off in the central region. Corn fields range from silking to milk stage, with the latest fields tasselling. Sunflowers have completed flowering and are in the seed development stage. Most flax is in the brown capsule stage. Saskatchewan's weekly crop report shows 15 per cent of the Provincial crop is now in the bin with a little bit of everything coming in. Provincially, grade quality is variable with 57 % of Fall rye reported as 1 CW - 26 per cent 2 CW and 17 per cent 3 CW. Winter wheat grade quality is reported at 61 per cent 1 CW, 25 per cent 2 CW, 13 per cent 3 CW, and one per cent as feed. More information on Saskatchewan's Crop Report can be found here.
Alberta's weekly crop report shows 8 per cent of the major crop harvest is now complete. Major crops are rated 40 per cent good to excellent, below the 5- and 10-year average of 55 and 57 per cent, respectively. Crop conditions are rated the highest in the Peace with 54 per cent good to excellent, the South is at 52 per cent despite a decline from last week, conditions in the Central show 21 per cent of the crop is listed as good to excellent, the North West is at 28 per cent while the North East is listed as 44 per cent good to excellent with a 6 per cent decline from last week. As producers continue with the harvest they are reminded to put safety first which includes having fire mitigation resources at the ready and taking precautions when working around powerlines.
The general public is also reminded to exercise caution on highways and secondary roads with large machinery and equipment moving from one location to another.
