Proven Seed is expanding its portfolio with the launch of three new LibertyLink canola hybrids and a cutting-edge TruFlex variety, giving farmers more disease resistance, improved harvest management, and greater flexibility in straight cutting.

The new LibertyLink lineup includes:

PV 662 LCM: A multi-gen hybrid with clubroot resistance, ideal for growers in northern and central Alberta looking for more disease protection and harvest flexibility.
PV 663 LCN: Proven’s first entry into 'NTACT' technology, an early to mid-season hybrid designed for Saskatchewan and Manitoba growers looking for strong performance and LibertyLink benefits.
PV 664 LCN: A full-season hybrid with pod shatter protection and 'NTACT' technology, making it a natural fit for straight cutting in southwest Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The TruFlex variety - PV 784 TCN - combines 'NTACT' technology with clubroot resistance and pod shatter protection, giving growers the option to straight cut while managing disease pressures effectively.

Proven Performance Check trials are being done on a field-scale level in over 100 locations across the prairies to test the new hybrids under various agronomic and environmental conditions.

Jennifer Dale, Nutrien Ag Solutions product line manager for canola says they're seeing strong results.

She says they are seeing improved harvestability, moving from 6.5 to 8 on the straight cut scale with the new hybrids.

"Growers can leave the crop out longer if needed, especially with unpredictable weather."

Overall, she says the move to straight cutting vs. swathing canola is growing, with about 60 per cent of Western Canadian growers now opting to straight cut.

Growers interested in seeing how the new canola hybrids perform in the field can visit the Proven Seed website for trial site maps and locations or contact their nearest Nutrien Ag location to arrange a tour.
