Rocky View Schools (RVS) and Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) are hosting events to help first-time school bus riders become more familiar with the experience.
RVS, which serves communities like Airdrie, Crossfield, and Cochrane, are hosting their event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 28 at the RVS Education Centre.
“My First Ride is an exciting event we hold for new bus riders and their families every summer in partnership with our bus contractors,” said Kostecky. “Families are welcome to attend this free event, where they will learn about safely riding the school bus. Our staff and contractors will be on hand to answer questions and ensure students are ready to ride the school bus this year.”
RVS transports nearly 13,500 students on 324 routes, including 2,100 students from the Calgary Catholic School District who attend school in Airdrie, Chestermere, and Cochrane.
CESD is working with three other school divisions, Red Deer Public, Red Deer Catholic, and Wild Rose School Divisions, are working together to run a similar event.
According to CESD, the young students will:
