Hospitalizations increase by another 28 cases, AHS responds to rising cases

With another 1,168 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours, hospitalizations continue to rise as well.

The number of people in the hospital due to the virus rose by 28 cases for a total of 336.

ICU admissions also increased by ten for a total of 74.

Of the 336 in hospital, 262 are unvaccinated, 12 are partially vaccinated and 62 people are fully vaccinated.

For the second day in a row, another four deaths were reported for a total of 2,364.

Churches, places of worship, seeing no changes to vaccine restrictions

There is one change coming to Manitoba's indoor faith-based gatherings this weekend.

Masks will be required while in all indoor public spaces, including places of worship, starting on Saturday.

This is the only change coming to faith gatherings, despite a large change regarding vaccine requirements for many other public spaces.

Less than 3 dozen new COVID cases Friday

Manitoba's COVID-19 test positivity rate remains slightly under three per cent.

As of Friday morning, there are 31 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province. This brings the total number of cases to 58,506. Of those cases, 430 are active and 56,887 are recovered cases. The number of deaths remains at 1,189.

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is 2.8 per cent.

There are 65 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 19 of those people having active cases. in intensive care, there are 21 people, five of which have active cases of the virus.

COVID: Conductor gets shot during performance

An open-air concert being conducted by Iván Fischer took an unexpected turn in Budapest on Wednesday.

On Wednesday night, an open-air concert took place for people with a valid COVID certificate. The audience arrived expecting an evening of music but what they did not know was that the musical affair would make such a large statement. Already having a history of musical shakeups, the conductor did something unexpected in the middle of a piece.

UPDATE: Many public spaces to open only for fully immunized Manitobans

Manitoba is falling back into a previous mask mandate, as well as introducing new, tighter restrictions for many public spaces.

Changes are coming to Manitoba's COVID-19 response as officials make alterations to the public health orders. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin and Health and Seniors Care Minister Audrey Gordon are updating the health orders days after the province shared alarming COVID-19 projections.

Another 1,112 new cases of COVID-19 recorded on Thursday, August 26

The new COVID-19 cases just keep rising in Alberta.

Another 1,112 cases have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Hospitalizations rose by 24 to a total of 308 while ICU admissions rose by five to a total of 64.

Of those in the hospital, 246 are unvaccinated while 10 are partially vaccinated and 52 are fully vaccinated.

Four additional deaths have been reported bringing that total to 2,360.

There are 9,066 active cases in the province with a positivity rate of 10.5 per cent.

Hope 'drops in' after difficult year for inner city youth community

An inner-city ministry is ready to "Bridge" youth connections in person this fall.

The Bridge Drop-In's doors at Inner City Youth Alive (ICYA) are reopening after more than a year, but that doesn't mean relationships have been gathering dust. Finding ways to connect online or in smaller groups, ICYA noticed a trend.

"Even through our smaller group connections, we are finding kids want to go deeper, quicker because they are just stressed and overwhelmed with what comes with this season of COVID," Executive Director Kent Dueck says.

Vaccination numbers in the City and County of Grande Prairie below 50%

As of August 24, 2021 the City of Grande Prairie has 375 active cases of COVID-19, and the County of Grande Prairie has 177 cases.

Cases of COVID-19 across the rest of the province also remain high. Alberta now has 8,496 active cases of the virus. 

Hospitalizations have risen to 284, and a total of 59 Albertans are in intensive care receiving treatment.

Manitoba gives weekly COVID-19 enforcement update, test site to close

Officials say they have recently issued over $20,000 in tickets for not following the public health orders.

Last week 10 tickets and 27 warnings were issued for noncompliance with the health orders.

The province gave out an $8,550 ticket to an individual for the Federal Quarantine Act. The only other time Manitoba has issued a ticket of this amount was in the July 19-25 time period. Others have previously been fined $5,150 for this offence.

B.C. records significant increase in vaccine bookings

The Province has recorded a significant increase in the number of vaccine registrations and bookings for first doses, particularly among people under the age of 40.

On Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, there were 8,909 new registrations and 7,347 new appointment bookings. This represents a 174.8% increase in daily registrations and an 88.6% daily increase in bookings compared to the previous Monday, which recorded 3,242 new registrations and 3,896 bookings.
