Update: Traffic incident on QEII causes major delays

A motor vehicle collision north of Airdrie on the QEII near Crossfield that was impacting the southbound lanes, has been cleared, 

Just before 1 pm, STARS air ambulance posted to its X account that it had been dispatched for an emergency scene call in the Crossfield area. Still, it is unclear if it responded to the vehicular collision.

Local maintenance efforts redirected amidst Jasper wildfire

The Town of Crossfield's fire hydrant flushing has been delayed as contractors have been redeployed to Jasper in efforts to restore services after a historic wildfire that has decimated at least one-third of the town's structures.

On Wednesday evening, Jasper officials warned of the potential for extreme wildfire behaviour today, due to exceedingly dry conditions of what they call forest fuels, which include grasses, shrubs, and medium to large trees.

Firefighters to raise funds for Crossfield and Madden Food Bank

The Crossfield Fire Department is creating a calendar to sell with all the funds raised being donated to the Crossfield and Madden Food Bank.

Beth Gabriel, a firefighter for the Crossfield Fire Department talked about how this idea came about.

"I have been working with the Crossfield and Madden Food Bank for a few years now,  I've just seen the need for food explode and I thought this would be a fun way that we'd be able to help them out and at the same time do some team building as a Fire Department."

Iconic X-men actress in Alberta next month for film shoot near Airdrie

There are reports that Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence, known for her iconic roles in The Hunger Games and X-men will be in Alberta come August to shoot a film in the area.

According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), the film, Die, My Love, will be shot in Calgary and is about a, 'In a remote forgotten rural area, a mother struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis.'

Local business responds to park incident in Crossfield 

A local business has released a statement following a recent incident in Crossfield, in which a car drove into the local park, Veterans Park causing damage to trees. 

Homes by Creation, the local home builder released the statement on social media, apologizing for what happened, adding that it took full responsibility for the entirety of the situation.  

More pothole repairs may cause major traffic delays north of Airdrie

Beginning at 8 a.m. this morning, till 3 p.m., motorists can expect significant delays north of Airdrie on the QEII due to pothole repairs.

The repairs will be on the QEII northbound, from Highway 2A to Township Road 292 near Crossfield. There will be a double left-handed lane closure with speeds reduced to 80 km/hour, with no passing.

Town of Crossfield reacts to vehicle incident at local park

The Town of Crossfield has commented on an incident involving a car that occurred in one of its parks, which saw significant damage to the trees in the park.

In a social media post on Monday afternoon, The Town stated that on Friday, June 21, a motorized vehicle gained unauthorized access to Veteran’s Park, which resulted in a significant amount of damage to Town property, including the destruction of multiple mature trees.
