Cosmic Mozart: Icelandic Pianist Víkingur Ólafsson Portrays Mozart the Revolutionary

Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson has been called “Iceland’s Glenn Gould” and the description of this 37 year old piano virtuoso, is somewhat fitting. Ólafsson is equally at home playing music of contemporary composers such as Daniel Bjarson and Phillip Glass, as he is playing the music of Bach and Rameau. Like Gould, Ólafsson is also not afraid to take advantage of what can be done in the recording process to create the maximum benefit for the listener.

A mental health expert is sharing how parents can connect with their child, even when they won't share what is going on.

Fresh Blood Project 2: Presenting New Works for Percussion

Tomorrow night Saturday, November 13th at 7:30pm at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, there will be a really fascinating concert of music written for percussion ensemble.

The Fresh Blood Project is an innovative and exciting percussion group that was founded in 2019. The mandate of the group is to collaborate with young up and coming composers, with the idea being that the composers would write new music for the ensemble, and have the group perform these pieces.

Better Late than Never! Winnipeg Chamber Music Society Celebrates the Music of Beethoven

This Sunday night at 7:30pm at the Winnipeg Arts Gallery’s Muriel Richardson Auditorium, the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society makes its long awaited return to the live in person concert stage. And what better way to make a return to the stage with the exhilarating, heroic and perfectly crafted music of Beethoven.

They will perform two trios by Beethoven, his piano trio in C minor op.1 no 3, and one of his more iconic piano trios, the magnificent Archduke trio.

Celebrating the Prairie with the Mennonite Community Orchestra

This Sunday November 14th at 3:00pm at Lutheran Church of the Cross at 560 Arlington Street, the Mennonite Community Orchestra will be putting on a concert that they are calling “Prairie Sunrise.”

There will be music written for the different sections of the Orchestra, such as music for Brass by Gabrieli, Mozart’s Serenade no 11 for winds, and Dvorak’s Serenade for String Orchestra.

The concert will also feature a brand new work for Orchestra by Canadian composer Anna Schwartz, and music from Mozart’s the Marriage of Figaro as sung by Soprano Johanna Klassen.
