A number of thefts were reported in this week's Winkler Police Report. 

Several people reported having keys and/or wallets taken from their vehicles at night. One in particular, on 8th Street South, reported their house had also been spray painted. 

On Oct 25th, police responded to a report from a female, who was not home at the time, regarding a male in her apartment. When police arrived on the scene, they saw a male, known to police, near the building. He was arrested on two outstanding warrants and for Breaching an Undertaking. 

Altona police are investigating a Halloween armed robbery at a local gas station.

According to authorities, a lone man walked into the Domo Gas Station around 9:45 p.m. on October 31st, covered in a blanket. He indicated to the lone employee working that he had a gun, and demanded money and cigarettes. 

The suspect then fled on foot, making off with an undetermined amount of cash and cigarettes. 
 

According to a Tweet posted Monday Oct 31st, Morden Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying this truck and person of interest.

Anyone with information is asked to call them or Crime Stoppers .

Newly elected Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens, along with the community's newly elected city councilors were officially sworn into public office at Winkler City Hall on Thursday. An Oath of Office ceremony was held one day after municipal and school board elections were held across Manitoba.

Henry Siemens beat out Karl Krebs, the only other candidate to run for mayor in Winkler in Wednesday's election.

The municipal and school board election is over, taking place Wednesday, but some councils in the region still have vacancies to fill.

A number of heads of council in the region had already been confirmed for the next term via acclimation prior to Wednesday's vote.

The following local mayors and reeves were acclaimed to the positions after no other candidates stepped forward during the call for nominations earlier this Fall:

Two people were arrested Tuesday night after police, including the Regional Support Tactical Team, executed a search warrant at an apartment complex in Altona. 
    
According to police, the warrant was granted after an investigation determined that an occupant of the complex, located on 8th Ave NE, was involved in drug trafficking and could be in possession of several firearms. 

The first Colorado low of the season has come and gone in Southern Manitoba, and as forecast, it was a rain event rather than the typical snow we expect from those types of systems.

“With the vast majority of Southern Manitoba staying within the warm side of the low, that meant the precipitation we received remained as rainfall,” explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. “There were on again, off again, showers for much for the day, but based on Rainwatcher reports most of the rain arrived before mid-morning Monday.”

Candidates vying for a seat in Garden Valley School Division's Ward One this election participated in an all-candidates forum Thursday at Emerado Centennial School in Winkler. The event was hosted by the Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce.

Two men have been arrested on drug-related charges following an investigation and execution of a search warrant Friday night at a motel in Winkler.
