Wilfred Harley Pilkington

It is with great sadness that the Pilkington family announces the passing of Wilfred Harley Pilkington, 68, of Portage la Prairie. Wilf passed away on August 27, 2024, at Portage General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Wilf was a beloved husband to Carol for nearly 50 years. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter. He was the proud father of Jason (Angela) Pilkington and Ryan (Candace) Pilkington and a cherished grandfather to Rory and Cohen.

April 12, 1928 – August 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Grace Emily McVittie announces her passing on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Grace was full of vitality and never shied away from any task, whether it be driving the community taxi for the “old people” or leading church services at her home parish, St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Gull Lake, SK, both into her 90s. She was a strong, positive, helpful, and loving person right to the very end.

It is with great sadness that a family had to say goodbye to their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Helen Mary Japp passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 after having just celebrated her 100th birthday only 4 months ago.

Howard Duane Lees
September 8, 1955 – August 28, 2024

The peaceful passing of Howard Duane Lees, 68 years of Humboldt, occurred on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Lanigan Hospital. Howard was born on September 8, 1955, to Lloyd and Doreen (nee Leland) Lees at Wainwright, AB. He obtained his education at the Weldon, Beatty and Melfort schools.

Katharina Kroeker nee Friesen, 68, of Winkler passed away Wednesday, August 28th at Boundary Trails Health Centre. She is survived by her husband Diedrich, 6 sisters, 1 brother and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 brothers. 
The funeral service for Katharina Kroeker nee Friesen will be held Sunday, September 1st at 2pm at Chortitz Old Colony Mennonite Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Funeral Date: August 31, 2024 
Mary Irwin, 93, of Miami passed away Tuesday, August 27th at Boundary Trails Health Centre. She is survived by 1 daughter, 2 sons, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin. 
A memorial service for Mary Irwin will be held Saturday, August 31st at 11:30am at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden with private family burial at Miami Cemetery prior to the service. 
Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Boundary Trails Health Centre.  

With great sadness we announce the passing of Arlene Mason. A Private Family Interment Service for Arlene will take placed from the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. 

In memory of Arlene Mason, donations made to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral Date: August 30, 2024 
Peter Klassen, 94, of Neepawa formerly of Steinbach, passed away Friday, August 23rd at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Lottie. 
The funeral service for Peter Klassen will be held Friday, August 30th at 2pm at Neepawa First Baptist Church with burial at Rosedale Cemetery. 
Viewing will be at the church prior to the service.

Genevieve Joyce Procyk, late of Fillmore, SK passed away August 25, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Fillmore, SK with Celebrant Rev. Francis (Prince) Kurisinkal. 

Urn Bearer is Robert Procyk. Luncheon will follow the service at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, (basement), Fillmore, SK.  Interment will be held at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Montmartre, SK.
