Estevan community leaders step up for a messy TeleMiracle fundraiser!
The Kinette Club of Estevan is putting the "fun" in fundraising once again with a unique community challenge leading up to TeleMiracle 49. This year, five well-known Estevan residents have stepped up as candidates for a messy fate—all in the name of charity.
The friendly competition pits Estevan against the town of Nokomis, where Kinette Club member Krissy Wallman’s mother serves as the local TeleMiracle representative. Each community has gathered a lineup of participants who could end up with a pie in the face, depending on donations.
Multiple arrests made over chilly winter weekend by Estevan Police Service
The Estevan Police Service was busy even as the weekend saw very cold temperatures spreading across the southeast.
Beginning on Friday, February 7th, officers received a report of a male who was possibly intoxicated in the north part of the city. Members located the man and found that rather than being intoxicated, he was having trouble moving in deep snow.
A local business reported vandalism which involved spray painting graffiti on the building, with an investigation underway.

Estevan intersection closed for a couple of days due to water break
The city of Estevan is alerting people that an intersection will be closed down as they experienced a water break last night.
The area of Perkins Street and 4th Avenue will be closed down along with the north sidewalk, with the city giving a timeline of two days for the repair.
The city will be posting further updates should the closure status change and they thank everyone for their understanding during the situation
Heroes of Education: celebrating those who support learning
School divisions, schools, and school community councils are celebrating with activities throughout the week, as the Province of Saskatchewan proclaimed February 9th to 15th as Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.
"From providing skills and knowledge in the classroom to supporting student activities, teachers and school staff provide the foundation for lifelong learning," said Education Minister Everett Hindley.

CarStar Hail Otto Estevan, led by owner and president Dan Rawlyk, is working to address the backlog by expanding operations and incorporating new technology to improve efficiency.
25% tariffs and their impact on the $43.5 billion dollar Canadian canola industry
U.S. president Donald Trump announced he has postponed the 25% implementation of widespread tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico until March 4th. These tariffs would have economic impacts on a variety of industries, including canola. The canola industry in massive in terms of supporting Canadian agriculture, with the economic activity accounting for over $43.5 billion a year. Perkowitsch, Frank
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frank Perkowitsch announce his passing on February 7, 2025 at the age of 93 years.
“Perk” was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 27, 1931 to Frank and Julie Perkowitsch. At the age of nine his family relocated from Woodley to Lampman, Saskatchewan where Frank helped run the family store. He stayed in Lampman (interrupted by a brief detour to attend Campion College) until 1965. His love of the town and its people never wavered, and he especially enjoyed his frequent visits home for the rest of his life.
Red Devils hope to stave off elimination against Huskies in Big Six Playoff action
The Big Six Hockey League's Playoffs could see the end of the first round or the beginning of an upset as the Oxbow Huskies and Carnduff Red Devils face off tonight.
The Huskies originally went up 2-0 in the series, putting the Red Devils on the verge of elimination. The Red Devils managed a 2OT victory on the weekend to keep themselves in the series.
