Holiday music and cheer: Weening Family and The Way perform at Estevan Library’s Christmas Social
The Estevan Public Library—a host for many festive activities—is set to hold a Christmas Social this week, featuring crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, and live music courtesy of The Way and the Weening Family.
The Weening Family first broke onto the Estevan music scene with a performance at this year’s Estevan United Way Telethon. Featuring Jason Weening and nine of his ten children, the family band has become a local favourite. Jason and his son Justice stopped by SUN 102 to share what people can expect from the upcoming festive event.
No bah humbug here: Carlyle’s Dickens Festival packs the town
The streets of Carlyle were alive with Victorian charm this weekend as the annual Dickens Festival drew record-breaking crowds, filling the town with festive spirit, carriage rides, and bustling entertainment.
While there is no official attendance count, organizer Dawn Faber said the guestbook, filled with “pages and pages,” points to a standout year.

In total there was 18 in the immediate area, 3 years ago right here in the southeast. They started about 200 yards out in the field and after about 30 minutes they ended up about 30 yards from me.
Get your tickets for ECS’s Mama Mia! production
The Estevan Comprehensive School is ready to bring ABBA’s timeless hits to the stage with its production of Mama Mia! happening December 13 and 14 at 7:30 PM, and a matinee on December 15 at 2 PM in the ECS Cafeteria.
Tickets are available at the ECS office and Henders Drugs. Regular ticket prices are:

Council passes part of ECS's graduation request while holding part for after bylaw is settled
The Estevan Comprehensive School sent out a request which was read at last night's council meeting stating that tey were looking for a reduction in fees for their graduations.
In the original request, the ECS asked the Estevan City Council to drop the proposed rental fee to use Affinity Place from $7800 to $3900 for the next five years, reducing the rate by 50 per cent.
The school asked for the reduction as they say the cost for the entire ceremony is expensed back to the students and families in the graduating class.
