CFL alum helps lead football development camps in Estevan and Weyburn
Former CFL offensive lineman Matt Sheridan helped deliver a successful two-day football development camp in southeast Saskatchewan, aiming to sharpen skills and boost coaching know-how in rural communities.
“In Weyburn, we focused on practice planning and basic injury management. Estevan was more offensive line-heavy, because that’s what coaches asked for,” Sheridan said. He noted the camps were tailored to the specific needs of each community.

Dagan and Trey Olson started their first business almost by accident.
“The idea came because I was building a shop,” recalls Dagan, who along with brother Trey were oilfield professionals at the time. “While researching how to be as efficient as possible, we saw the opportunity to offer the spray foam service in the area at an affordable rate.”
Statistics Canada's April inflation data to show impact of carbon price removal
Statistics Canada is set to release inflation data for April today.
Market data shows economists on average expect the annual rate of inflation cooled to 1.6 per cent last month, from 2.3 per cent in March.
The Liberal government eliminated the consumer carbon price at the start of April, offering motorists some relief at the pump.

Canada Post workers issue strike notice, poised to hit picket lines Friday
Canada Post says it has received strike notices from the union representing some 55,000 postal workers, with operations poised to shut down by the end of the week.
The Crown corporation says the union informed it that employees plan to hit the picket line starting Friday morning at midnight.
A work stoppage would affect millions of residents and businesses who typically receive more than two billion letters and roughly 300 million parcels a year via the service.
Safe Boating Awareness Week begins, RCMP remind boaters to stay safe
Safe Boating Awareness Week is underway across Canada, running until May 24, and the Saskatchewan RCMP are reminding boaters and passengers to take steps to stay safe on the water.
“This month marks the start of summer for many Saskatchewan residents as people launch boats for the first time this season, or head out for their first paddle,” said RCMP Underwater Recovery Team co-ordinator Cpl. Jamie Diemert. “We’re reminding everyone to stay safe on Saskatchewan lakes and rivers by following safe boating guidelines.”

Ryan Straschnitzki's life has been an open book since he was seriously injured in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, and his story is soon to be shown on TV.
The 26-year-old from Airdrie, Alta., was paralyzed from the chest down in 2018, when a semi-trailer ran a stop sign and barrelled into the path of the junior hockey team's bus in rural Saskatchewan.
Sixteen people died and 13 were hurt.

Carney reaffirms Canadian support for Ukraine in first meeting with Zelenskyy

A recent increase in break-ins at businesses and community facilities in the southeast has prompted the RCMP to outline steps to help the public keep their buildings safe.
