Hilarious Hoedown: Scott Woods' 'Yee Haw!' Hits Killarney
For those who remember the CBS television show HEE HAW with it's country-bumpkin kind of humor and wit, with Buck Owens and Roy Clark telling jokes and singing up a good 'ol country folk tune, then you're going to enjoy Canadian Open and Grand Masters Fiddle Champion, Scott Woods' rendition with his 'Yee Haw!' stage show.
'Yee Haw!' is coming to Killarney at the end of October as a fundraiser for the Killarney United Church.
Sports Update - Monday, October 14th
Lucas Newman scored three times and Hunter Gregory made 15 saves in recording the shutout as the defending Westman High School Hockey League champion Vincent Massey Vikings blanked Crocus Plains 7-0.
Connor Hoemsen had two goals and an assist to lead the Southwest Cougars past the Winnipeg Thrashers 5-3. Bryan Laing, Shane Elder and Spencer Cullen also scored for the Cougars who have won four of their last five games.
Cultural Bridges: Manitoba 4-H Hosts Japanese Students
4-H Clubs across Manitoba shared their skills and talents at a multitude of events, festivals and parades. As well, 4-H Manitoba families were able to share the Manitoba 4-H program to 20 students from Japan in a special student exchange program between the two countries.

'Many hands make the work light' is something the Rotary Club of Brandon #1344 see firsthand twice a year during their annual spring and fall book sale fundraisers.
Their most recent 3-day book sale took place in mid-September, bringing in over 100,000 pounds of books to sort, stack and sell, all to raise money for local projects across Brandon, and the Westman Region.
Rotary Club member, Marty Stanley says it was another fantastic book sale for the Club with many people purchasing new reads for their bookshelves.
Bill Vigars, campaign manager for Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, dies at 78
Bill Vigars, who led the promotion of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope in 1980, has died at the age of 78.
His wife, Sherry MacDonald, confirmed the news in an interview, saying Vigars died of congestive heart failure on Thursday surrounded by loved ones at a hospital in White Rock, B.C. She said he fought a "long, tough battle" that began when he had a heart attack in June.
Vigars is survived by his wife, two children, a stepson and one grandson. He will be honoured at a private ceremony of life early next year, MacDonald said.
Thankful Hearts: To give and to receive during Foodgrains Bank Learning Tour in Nepal
Early in 2024, Manitoba Regional Rep for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Gordon Janzen, participated in a CFB learning tour to Nepal, along with five other Manitobans keenly interested in the ag sector and the projects affiliated with the Foodgrain Bank.
Janzen had strong connections with that part of the world as his parents spent three years in India and then in Nepal; his father a doctor and his mother, a nurse. Janzen himself spent a number of years in both countries and so was not unfamiliar with the cultures and dynamics of Nepal.

The Miller Aces and Morden Thunder captured the Provincial A-AA-AAA High School Soccer championship banners Saturday in Minnedosa. Miller defeated the Garden Valley Zodiacs 3-1 in the girls final while Morden shaded GVC 2-1 in the boys final. Minnesoda/Erickson beat Oscar Lathlin 5-0 in the girls consolation final. The host Chancellors blanked Niverville 1-0 in the boys third place. Minnedosa’s Grady Burton and Zach Lamb were named tournament All-Stars.
Trade minister says she is 'disappointed' by report of caucus revolt to oust Trudeau
A growing number of Liberal MPs are banding together to convince Prime Minister Justin Trudeau it's time to step down, although he appears to retain support from his cabinet.
Trade Minister Mary Ng said Friday she had full confidence in Trudeau as word began to spread about a growing revolt. Ng was travelling back to Canada with Trudeau from Laos, where they were attending a summit of southeast Asian countries.
