Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce CEO gets to enjoy her last SCBEX show
Karla Wiens was able to sit back, relax, and enjoy her last SCBEX.
Wiens, who has been serving as the CEO of the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce since 2017, will be stepping down from the role at the end of the fiscal year.
As such, she took the time to really take in the largest event of the year that she and the Chamber organize, the SCBEX Awards.
So, last Friday Night, she took a more reduced role and enjoyed watching the awards being handed out from the audience.
Special Polling begins today in Swift Current
Special polling is beginning today in Swift Current.
The practice is conducted for those living with mobility issues in care homes, granting those who live there the ability to vote without having to worry about arranging transportation to a polling location.
The schedule for special polling is as follows.

Horizon School Division School Board elections: Subdivision 2 candidates
Along with Civic elections on Wednesday, November 13, there will also be elections for school boards.
In the Horizon school division, there will be elections in Subdivisions 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9.
There are two candidates in Subdivision 2.
Biggar RCMP weekly report: Driver flees, break-ins, and vehicle swaps
Biggar RCMP responded to 61 incidents over the past week, ranging from traffic stops to vehicle thefts and break-ins. Sgt. Dereck Crozier reported on various occurrences handled by the detachment, including traffic enforcement efforts, a series of vehicle collisions, and theft incidents that spanned the region.

Southern Saskatchewan's October weather defies expectations
If you were to summarize the weather in October in a few words they would be ‘warm and dry’, and that holds true according to Environment Canada’s October weather statistics.
All of the weather stations included in the report – 11 in total – showed a departure from normal temperature of at least +1.3°. Moose Jaw’s mean temperature for the month was +7.7°, 2.1° higher than expected.
Altona police officers tackle a packed start to the month
It was a full day for police officers on duty in Altona on Saturday.
It all started early in the morning when officers were called to an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a home. The man, however, had left before police arrived. Just before they were about to leave, however, officers noticed him walking back.
The 24-year-old was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in police cells until sober.
"There's no place like home" - Ruby Red Genesis House Unmasked Gala first event at the new Minnewasta Golf & Country Clubhouse
Saturday night, the Minnewasta Golf and Country Club was the venue for the Genesis House 4th Annual Unmasked Gala.
Genesis House Executive Director Angela Braun said the theme was Ruby Red to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the organization that provides temporary shelter for women and children experiencing domestic violence.
The intimate event was sold out with 120 guests who were entertained and won prizes.
Emotions run high as Mark Wiebe takes on 100km for a cause
It was an emotional day Sunday as Altona's Mark Wiebe pushed his body and mind to the edge - all in support of men's health and cancer research.
In his own spin on the annual Movember fund raiser, Wiebe ran 100 kilometres on Sunday.
He only started running about four months ago and, instead of doing it just for himself, decided to turn it into something good for others.
"No matter where you look, you're going to have people in your life who are dealing with health issues or cancer or whatever it is," said Wiebe.
