Biggar RCMP weekly report highlights

The RCMP detachment responded to 27 calls over the past week, addressing various incidents ranging from traffic violations to fraud awareness and disputes.

Traffic Safety Efforts

Officers issued eight drivers “educational reminders” about road safety. Additionally, a report of a 2005 grey Saturn Ion driving erratically in town resulted in the driver receiving a fine for their actions.

Smile Cookies see smashing success for pair of non-profits

Tim Hortons in Swift Current partnered up with a duo of non-profits to raise over $11,000 with the Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign. 

This season's Smile Cookies garnered $11,033 to be split between Southwest Crisis Services and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Albert Umali, general manager of Tim Hortons highway locations in Swift Current, noted that Smile Cookies were available from November 18 to 24 at all three Swift Current locations.

WPS investigate hit and run spree last Friday

Last week the Weyburn Police Service responded to a hit and run in a parking lot. Last Friday they saw two more incidents. One occurred behind a local bank around 2 p.m., the other in a Canada Post parking lot between 8:30 and 11 p.m.  

Constable Dallas Austin says damage was likely done to all involved vehicles; he stresses the importance of remaining on the scene of these incidents.  

Swift Current Branch Library to get festive with family fun

The Swift Current Branch Library is inviting southwest families out to enjoy some fun activities for their upcoming Christmas Family Day.

The library's Christmas Family Day is set for Saturday, December 7 and will be free to attend, although registration for some activities is required.

Olivia Brotzell, program services manager for the Swift Current Branch Library and Chinook Regional Library, is looking forward to spreading the holiday spirit and seeing library-goers enjoy some family fun.
