'Geared Up' delivers funding to five more Saskatchewan teams

Five volunteer emergency service teams across the province are receiving a boost from MyMutual Insurance through its ongoing Geared Up campaign.

Now in its fourth year, the campaign supports volunteer fire departments and first responder groups by funding essential equipment and training needs.

For the 2025 round of funding, MyMutual has selected the Edam Turtle River Fire Department, Elbow Volunteer Fire Department, Lipton Volunteer Fire Department, RM of Scott Medical First Responders, and Stoughton/Tecumseh Fire and Rescue.

Roaming dogs, road hazards and racket: RCMP handle it all in Rosetown

The Rosetown RCMP responded to a range of calls between June 19 and 26, including traffic concerns, animal complaints and a disturbance.

On June 19 at 9:22 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle hitting a deer near Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. No injuries were reported, and the matter was deemed non-reportable.

Officers assisted a member of the public on June 20 in response to a front-counter complaint at the Rosetown/Kyle detachment. That investigation remains ongoing.

Canada Day closures are coming to Okotoks

While people are celebrating Canada Day, there will be some facility closures in Okotoks on July 1.

Canada Day is happening on a Tuesday this year, and many places in town will be closed to the public.

The Municipal Centre and Operations Centre, Fire Station No. 1 on Milligan Drive, the RCMP/Municipal Enforcement office, Okotoks Eco Centre, the Art Gallery and Museum & Archives, the Okotoks Public Library, Viking Rental Centre, and the Okotoks Family Resource Centre will all be closed on Tuesday, July 1.

‘I took her seriously’: Settlement advisor recounts abuse allegations in trafficking case

A settlement advisor who supported a woman at the centre of a human trafficking case testified this week that the woman disclosed details about her employment and living situation, including a lack of access to food, water and communication, as well as alleged coercion and sexual violence.

Torquay celebrates a century of community spirit

Torquay marked its 100th anniversary with a weekend full of memories, music and milestone moments, drawing a crowd of roughly 1,000 people from near and far.

“It went wonderfully. It totally exceeded my expectations and our committee's expectations,” said Cindi Daae, chair of the Torquay Centennial weekend. “We were all overwhelmed with the support and the people coming out. Just every aspect of the weekend was wonderful.”

Salvation Army summer programming returns Wednesday

School is out and the Salvation Army’s summer programming is back! 

The summer lunch program kicks off this Wednesday at the Salvation Army Food Bank. Throughout the summer, kids will be able to stop by Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a free lunch.

Warman RCMP investigate two separate collisions, including serious ATV incident

RCMP are investigating two separate collisions that occurred Thursday in the Warman area, including one involving an all-terrain vehicle that sent two people to hospital with serious injuries.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on June 26, Warman RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Township Road 384 and Range Road 3063. According to police, an ATV and a car collided at the intersection. The driver and passenger of the ATV were transported to hospital with injuries described as serious. The driver of the car was not injured.
