A press release has announced that the Trans-Canada highway is now open by St. Francois Xavier is back open, after a collision earlier today.

Ice is being blamed for an accident on the Trans-Canada highway 60 kilometers east of Portage this morning. The accident happened on the bridge over the Assiniboine River near the white horse statue at St. Francois Xavier. 

Eastbound lanes (lanes going toward Winnipeg) were closed most of the day due to the accident but reopened just after 5 p.m.

Yesterday snow snowstorm wasn't the biggest, but it certainly left its mark in southwest Saskatchewan. 

The storm, which originated in Alberta, arrived yesterday morning and lasted until roughly 5:30 p.m. in Swift Current. 

Snowfall totals haven't been recorded for the Swift Current region, but Cypress Hill got hit the hardest on record, receiving 12 centimetres of snowfall. 

On the other end of the record, Kindersley only received two centimetres. 

A culvert is going to be installed in Foothills County, causing a road to be closed for the day.

The Public Works Department for Foothills County will be closing a portion of 336 St E on Wednesday (Nov 6) so they can install a culvert.

The road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so the work can be completed.

Traffic can detour around the work using either 466 Ave or 304 St E.

A. I am running for council because I believe the city needs a change of leadership and I want to see change. I want a council that cares about the future, that's transparent and works for the residents of Moose Jaw.

For Airdrie residents who are looking to cut their own Christmas tree this holiday season, it's important to be aware of the rules and regulations surrounding tree cutting on Crown land.

An 18-year-old man is in custody after a delivery person was carjacked while dropping off a package in Elmwood.

Winnipeg police say the incident happened just before 1:30 pm. in the 500 block of Harbison Avenue. 

Investigators say a 22-year-old man was dropping off a parcel when he was hit with bear spray and robbed of his vehicle. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service treated the victim at the scene. 

With moisture falling onto frozen ground here in the southeast, the RCMP are looking to make sure people are driving safely for the conditions.

They warn that road conditions and visibility may be reduced over the day, increasing the risk of being on the road.

While much of the heavy lifting has been done at the new SPCA just south of its current location, there is still work to be done. Some of that work and a launch on new projects will be discussed at the Humboldt and District SPCA Annual General Meeting coming up on Friday, November 15 at the Bella Vista Inn.  

Not only will the AGM undertake a review of the past year, but it will serve as a strategic map for many of the projects local pet owners are looking forward to, says Joanne Koski, spokesperson for the SPCA. 

Veterans Week is being recognized in the lede up to Remembrance Day.

As such, a flag-raising was held at Market Square yesterday. 

The Local Legion Branch 56 was joined by members of the City of Swift Current, and MLA Everett Hindley. 

Past President of the Legion Branch 56, Jim Pratt was happy to see 
World War II Veteran, John Watson, raising the flag for the Legion. He was joined in the raising by Swift Current Mayor Al Bridal, and Legion Branch 56 Past President, Dave Boucher. 

A serious injury vehicle collision that had closed all lanes on northbound Deerfoot Trail between Memorial Drive East and 16 Avenue Northeast in Calgary has since bee cleared. 

Drivers were previously advised to use alternate routes to avoid the area.
