Cereal Specialist Anne Kirk put together this week's crop report and says provincially 95 per cent of the crop is now in the ground.
Chestermere garage sale raises funds to help resident following kidney transplant
The Chestermere Annual Parade of Garage Sales took place in the city over the weekend.
Around 200 homes took part in the city-wide event, with around 1,000 residents attending.
One of the garage sales was made to raise funds for Cam Kenney, with the funds being used to support him after a kidney transplant.
"I have Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, and because of having both, it breaks up my kidney function," said Kenney. "I have swelling in my legs all the time, and it can take days for food to digest."
Local Oilers fan excited about second Stanley Cup run
Despite being home to the Calgary Flames, there are a few Edmonton Oilers fan in the area - and even a couple of super fans.
One of those fans is Ron Anderson, who has been backing the Oilers since the franchise entered the NHL in the 1972-73 season.
"I had season tickets back in the time they were winning all their Stanley Cups," said Anderson. "After you see the greatness of Gretzky and you're cheering for him then, it's hard to turn to anybody else."
A month of giving: bottle drive supports Seniors Week
Kennedy Senior Services is running a bottle drive for Seniors Week.
The organization is raising funds to donate to Hope Bridges Society (HBS) throughout the month of June. Already running since mid-May, the organization's goal is to raise $500. Bottles are picked up or dropped off throughout the Strathmore area from donators who contact the group.

Wheatland County Elementary receives 3D printers
Wheatland Elementary School now has 3D printers.
The school was awarded funding from the 2025 East Strathmore Solar Project and Wheatland County to purchase the new technology.
The printers will provide more STEAM projects for the students through software like Tinkercad.
One of the projects the students participated in this year was designing personal keychains.
Why quality water is important for livestock
Testing ground and surface water sources can help determine if there are contaminants present that can affect animal health and production. In Saskatchewan, common contaminants include sulfate, sodium, nitrate, and iron. Stagnant surface water sources that experience nutrient-loading may be susceptible to blue-green algae, which can produce toxins that are unsafe for livestock.

The Prairie Pest Monitoring Network report shows flea beetle activity is getting started across the prairies. The warm weather seems to have brought them out of overwintering locations. So far it seems crucifer flea beetles are more prevalent than the striped flea beetles.

CAPI collaborated with EMILI, a non-profit Manitoba organization focused on digital agriculture proving and adoption.
