Saskatchewan bowlers strike gold at national masters tournament

The Master Bowlers Association of Canada (MBAC) Nationals, held June 22–28, proved to be an unforgettable experience for Team Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Men’s Teaching Division team, comprised of Tyler Goosen, David Caister, Eric Kozakevich, Dale Der, Jason Raschke, and Coach Orest Schular, showed resilience, sportsmanship and unwavering support for one another throughout the week. That teamwork paid off with a gold medal finish in the team event.

High River Flyers tryout camp is coming up next month

The High River Flyers of the Heritage Jr. B League are getting set for tryouts next month.

Season tickets are now available at early bird pricing and are only $150.

The club is looking for hockey players aged 16-21 to sign up now as the camp runs August 18-22 at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.

They have two sessions, from 6 to 7 p.m. and from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

Miller Express score 11 straight to down Medicine Hat

The Moose Jaw Miller Express scored 11 unanswered runs in an 11-2 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Wednesday night.

Medicine Hat jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

After a scoreless second, Moose Jaw replied with five runs in the third. Thomas Soto and Ben Waliczek scored off an Austin Gurney single. William Edwards scored the third run on a Robert Estrada sacrifice fly. Tanner DeGrazia singled to score Gurney, and Eduardo Saenz crossed home plate on a wild pitch.

Nine teams set to converge in Estevan for U15B Softball Provincials this weekend

The Jody Waloshyn Softball Diamonds beside Pleasantdale School will be busy this weekend, as 9 teams from southern Saskatchewan are set to arrive for the U15B South Softball Provincial Championships. 

Estevan Minor Softball is set to host the event, with the surging U15B Estevan Elite team being the home team. Marketing advisor for the club, Rebecca Foord, is thrilled for the event coming back to the city. 

U17 AAA Central Energy looking to bring natural athleticism to provincials

One of the best compliments a ball player can get is being called a "complete athlete" and head coach of the U17 AAA Central Energy, Cam Zacharias, believes his group is filled with exactly that, and looks to bring it to provincials starting today.

"I still get the butterflies," Zacharias jokes as he passes through the gates in Stonewall, the host site of provincials. "I think I'm more nervous than the players. I just want them to do so well. They seem calm, but I'm over the top excited."

Kickers take over top spot in division as strong home play continues

The Hanover Kickers remain unbeaten at home, extending their winning streak to 6 games and with the win, they also slide into first place in the division with an incredible goals for of 32 goals and only 9 goals against, with the next closet team at 24 goals for.

Yesterday's game was a tight affair with United Punjab opening the scoring at the 3rd minute mark of the game.

Despite the score, Hanover held the majority share of possession throughout the half, but struggled to connect meaningful plays.

Goldeyes drop another close one in Sioux Falls

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-35) suffered their 15th one-run loss of the season Wednesday evening, falling 3-2 to the Sioux Falls Canaries (35-25) at Sioux Falls Stadium. It was Winnipeg’s sixth consecutive defeat.

Sioux Falls took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Trevor Achenbach launched a two-run homer to left field, scoring Jordan Barth to make it 2-0.

U11 Strathmore Reds prepare to host provincial baseball tournament

The U11 Strathmore Reds baseball team is bringing provincials to town later this summer.

The club announced that the U11 Reds would be hosting the Tier 2 Baseball Alberta Provincial Championships at the Hillview diamond from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3.

"The event will bring in hundreds of people to Strathmore," said Jillian Weselosky, a board member with the Reds. "We've never hosted a U11 provincials, so this is a first for us."

The Reds put in an application earlier in the season, with Weselosky adding that she was surprised they were selected.

Berries split Okotoks showdown, ready for WCBL All-Star Game

Saturday's 2025 WCBL All-Star Game in Okotoks will cap the Saskatoon Berries current Alberta road trip, as the team heads to Lethbridge on Thursday for the first of two games, after splitting a pair against the Okotoks Dawgs Tuesday and Wednesday in a showdown between first-place teams.

The league, and East Division leading Berries traveled to Seaman Stadium in Okotoks for two highly anticipated games against the East Division leading Dawgs, and the games didn't disappoint in the slightest.
