Carlyle Cardinals carry home sixth straight championship from Saskota tournament
The Carlyle Cardinals have once again secured the top spot of the Saskota men's Baseball League, with a win last night to cap off the Jack Harbourne Memorial Tournament.
The Cardinals scored three times in the sixth inning to defeat the Southeast Diamondbacks 4-2, coming back in their final at-bat to win the match.

Berries chasing down WCBL wins record
Entering play on Tuesday night at 40-7, the Saskatoon Berries are four wins away from making Western Canadian Baseball League history.
Taking a look at the WCBL history books, the Berries are only four wins away from the regular season record of 44 wins set by Sylvan Lake in 2024. With seven games left the Berries have an inside track at the record, and a sweep of the 13-win Weyburn Beavers Tuesday and Wednesday would offer a good start.

The second of three open championships to be held at the Portage Golf Club is coming up quickly, as the Ladies' Open has attracted quite a group.
Portage Golf Club General Manager Robby Moar says lots of their tournaments have seen solid registration to this point.
"Because the guys have the course looking great, it's always a more attractive place to come play when the course looks good. So, Farrol and his guys have it set up really well, and the numbers are reflecting that."
Local athletes heading to Newfoundland for 2025 Canada Summer Games
Team Saskatchewan held their official kickoff on Monday with the announcement of all the athletes that will be competing in the upcoming Canada Summer Games in St. John’s Newfoundland.
Hayden Kot from Regina was named Saskatchewan’s flag bearer at the opening ceremonies at the kickoff. Kot will be competing in both basketball and volleyball at the games.

The 2025 All Girls Hockey Camp is underway in Estevan, and this year marks a milestone—what was once a one-week summer hockey camp has now doubled in size due to overwhelming demand.
The camp kicked off its first of two weeks on Monday, drawing girls from across the region for on-ice skill-building, off-ice training, and plenty of summer fun. Within 48 hours of announcing registration for the original camp week, it was completely sold out.

Unity, Rosetown win 13U provincial gold
13U baseball was the main draw along with 18U action this past weekend for Baseball Sask provincials. Nine local teams were at five different tournaments, and two came out victorious with a gold medal, including one on their home field.
The tournament in Unity was one of two going on around West Central this past weekend, joining 18U play in Kindersley. The Cardinals headlined Pool "A" with the Swift Current 57's Wynyard Blues, and Maidstone Lakers, while Pool "B" consisted of the Kindersley Royals, Saskatoon Braves Blue Jackets, Humboldt Dodgers, and Cabri River Pirates.
18U Wartime wins provincial gold in Saltcoats
The other local 18U team in action this weekend was the Wartime Marlins, who play in the senior Coteau Hills Baseball League. The Marlins were in Saltcoats for 18U AA Tier 4 provincials and came away as the top team, flexing their senior league mite.
After a convincing 13-2 win in their first game, the Marlins lost a high-scoring affair 15-13 their second time out. A 9-8 win in their final round robin game gave Wartime a spot in Sunday's semi-finals where they won 5-1, advancing to the finals against Melfort where the bats exploded for a 17-2 final.
CCA returns to southwest for 38th Herbert Stampede
An annual Canadian Cowboys Association-sanctioned stampede is set to kick off this Friday in the Town of Herbert, featuring over a dozen rodeo events.
The 38th Herbert Stampede will include a food booth, beer gardens, a brand new rodeo clown, and live grandstand entertainment on Friday and Saturday night featuring Lisa Moen.
Levi Speir, committee president for the Herbert Stampede, shared that admission at the gate is $15 for adults, $10 for youth, and children ages 10 and under get in for free.

The final weekend of minor ball provincials around the province featured mainly 13U teams in action, but also four Baseball Saskatchewan tournaments for the 18U age group.
The Tier 3 tournament was held in Kindersley with eight teams in action, the host Kindersley Royals headlining one pool and the Unity Cardinals in the other for local teams in action.
The Cardinals played the first game of the tournament on Flanagan Field and lost a 4-1 pitching duel to the Saskatoon Braves Pigeons.
