Bulldogs goalie Kirill Kapustin recognized for stellar play
Blackfalds Bulldogs goaltender Kirill Kapustin has been named an honourable mention for the BCHL 3 Stars of the Week.
Kapustin was 1-0-1 in 2 games played with a 0.957 Save Percentage and 1.88 Goals Against Average.
The Bulldogs return to the ice Saturday night (Jan. 11) in Salmon Arm, B.C., to take on the Silverbacks.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. MT.
Speed reduced on Highway 2A north of Penhold due to roundabout repairs
Motorists travelling on Highway 2A north of Penhold (near Hawkridge Blvd.) will see a speed reduction to 40 km/h near the Highway 42 and Highway 592 roundabout due to barrier installation.
The construction is expected to start at 7 a.m. on Thursday and wrap up around 7 p.m.

On-time service has been guaranteed for domestic mail, again, by Canada Post
Now that the Canada Post strike has been over for some time, domestic services have returned to normal.
As of Monday (January 6), Canada Post reinstated their on-time service guarantees and full-service levels for domestic parcels.
They have also returned back to their normal processing levels across Canada, including in the rural and remote areas, but they are saying there will still be a bit of a delay with their domestic Transaction Mail.
Alberta minister slams federal emissions cap, warns of economic fallout
Alberta’s Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, Rebecca Schulz, has strongly opposed the federal government’s proposed oil and gas emissions cap regulations, calling the plan “bad policy” and warning of its potential economic consequences.
Update: Five people taken to hospital following two-vehicle collision south of Millet
Five individuals were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2A south of Millet Wednesday evening.
No major or life-threatening injuries were reported.
RCMP received the report involving a Honda Pilot and a Hyundai Tucson around 6:45 p.m.
Police say one of the vehicles swerved into oncoming traffic, which caused the collision.
The highway was blocked off for several hours while an analyst attended the scene.
Alcohol is not considered a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.

Rebels trade goaltender to Pats
The Red Deer Rebels have traded goaltender Taylor Tabashniuk to the Regina Pats.
The trade was in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.
Tabashniuk was selected by the Rebels in round six, 127th overall at the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Regina, S.K. native made two playoff starts for the Rebels in 2024 on an emergency basis and is currently playing U18 AAA with his hometown Regina Pat Canadians.
Reeve, deputy reeve elected for amalgamated Clearwater County
The interim council of the newly amalgamated Clearwater County met for their inaugural meeting on Jan. 7.
After being sworn in at the organizational meeting, councillors elected a reeve, and deputy reeve, and appointed various board and committee positions.
Michelle Swanson was elected as Reeve, and Bryan Cermak as Deputy Reeve.

Acute Care Alberta leadership takes shape
Alberta’s government has announced leadership appointments as it continues refocusing the province’s health care system, including establishing Acute Care Alberta, a new provincial health agency for acute care services.
Dr. Chris Eagle has been named chair and interim president and CEO of Acute Care Alberta. He will assume this position on Feb. 1, pending final contract approval. He will focus on preparing the organization for its first day of operations this spring. Dr. Eagle was president and CEO of Alberta Health Services (AHS) from 2010 to 2013.
