Province shares highlights from COP28 conference

A 'sustainable Saskatchewan' was the main theme for Premier Scott Moe, and the rest of the Saskatchewan delegates at the recent COP28 climate conference. According to a release from Monday the premier had just returned to the province from the United Arab Emirates, sharing our story with leaders across the globe in agriculture, mining and energy sustainability.

ICYM - Government gives ice thickness reminder as cool temperatures continue

Thin ice is a major problem with the current temperatures. The Government of Saskatchewan sent out a media advisory earlier this week as we continue to shift between fall and winter.

"With temperatures cooling and snow arriving, the Water Security Agency (WSA) is reminding the public to ensure that ice is thick enough to safely walk, drive or snowmobile on." shared the release. "Ice thickness can be unpredictable and difficult to assess at times. It does not freeze at a uniform thickness and its strength can vary considerably from one area to another."

SHA alone in second quarter loss reports

A trio of releases this week from the Government of Saskatchewan unveiled loss reports for the second quarter of the fiscal year. The Saskatchewan Health Authority was the only group to report any change.

Looking at the losses of public money for 2023-24 second quarter, the Saskatchewan Health Authority confirmed one reportable loss.

"An SHA employee was paid for shifts by the SHA while working for an external employer at the same time, resulting in a loss of $15,720 over a period of eight months." states the release.

Fundraising complete for new rural breast cancer screening bus

Important news for women in Saskatchewan was announced on Tuesday. The Kinsmen Foundation announced a $1M donation to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan’s Breast Cancer Screening Bus campaign.

That sum means there is enough money-in-the-bank for a new 'state of the art vehicle to support breast cancer screening for women across rural Saskatchewan'. Two 'uniquely Saskatchewan foundations' came together as the monetary gain was only made possible thanks to donations from the annual TeleMiracle telethon.

AGT Soileos opens sustainable fertilizer production facility north of Rosetown

AGT Soileos held their grand opening in Rosetown on Wednesday, October 11.

The two companies put their expertise together to manufacture the flagship product "Soileos" that works to deliver sustainable, efficient, and eco-friendly micronutrient fertilizer solutions.

Shotgun theft leads to hunting safety reminder from RCMP

As part of their weekly report for the week of September 25-October 1, Saskatchewan RCMP's media team included a story about a bad day at the duck blind.

With hunting season started, unfortunately Saskatchewan RCMP detachments have been receiving reports of stolen firearms, ammunition and other related items. Just last week according to the release, a duck hunter in the Central Saskatchewan area left a vehicle parked while hunting and returned to find a shotgun, shotgun shells and binoculars missing from his truck.

SaskEnergy: Free furnace tune-ups back for another year

Summertime in Saskatchewan is greatly benefitted by air conditioning, but not as vital to survival compared to our furnaces in the winter.

Even though the cold season is a ways away, SaskEnergy is bringing back their furnace tune-up program for another year and feel the summertime is the perfect opportunity. People once again have the chance to allow SaskEnergy to team up with Network Members and offer the Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP) is underway. 

Environment Canada details cool-down

Temperatures should be back to seasonal following our first foray into extended and increased heat around west-central Saskatchewan. 

This past weekend was still some of the hottest weather the area has experienced so far this summer.

Things are supposed to cool down after Tuesday's high of 30 degrees. We reached out to Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Samantha Mauti for a more in-depth look at the forecast, starting with potential rain.
