With a strong end to the summer on the minds for many before fall returns, a certain population in Saskatchewan is already looking forward to the winter.

Ministry of Environment release on Monday, "However, it's also an important time for black bears to maintain and build their fat stores in preparation for winter."
Lack of moisture continuing to impact crops
The Ministry of Agriculture released the crop report breakdown for July 23 to 29 on Thursday. Keeping with the downtrend noticed the last few local crop reports, minimal moisture in the west-central area (and around the province) has been severely affecting the quality of crops ahead of harvest.

2024 SJHL Draft coming up June 11
The next wave of Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League prospects only have about two weeks left before draft day. Shifting focus to the off-season, on Monday the league announced their 2024 draft day, set to take place on June 11 at 3:00 PM.

Highway 7 closed near Rosetown
A detour might be in the works for drivers around Rosetown on Tuesday morning.
The Rosetown RCMP is alerting the public that Highway 7 just west of Rosetown is currently closed following a fuel spill. The road is closed at the junction of Highway 7 one kilometre west of Rosetown.

Saskatchewan's highways tend to turn into a skating rink this time of year, whether ice-cold conditions are causing freeze-ups leading to icy patches, or it's just pavement frost coming out to play.
The concept of pavement frost makes sense, but what does it actually mean? The Saskatchewan Highway Hotline shared the following message to their Facebook back on January 23.
