Saskatchewan’s Opposition New Democrats wasted little time in slamming the Sask Party Government for recalling the Legislature in emergency session and “ramming through their controversial pronoun policing policy that violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code. “ 

SaskPower and SaskEnergy offering energy saving discount program

SaskPower and SaskEnergy are joining forces to offer incentives for customers to commit to energy efficient products. A program that lasts until November 26 (depending on supplies) offers in-store discounts on items such as specialty LED lightbulbs, LED fixtures, lighting controls and smart thermostats at over 60 retailers across the province.  

TeleMiracle donation ensures continued presence of Breast Cancer Screening Bus in rural Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Breast Cancer Screening Bus, which makes regular visits to Humboldt, received a big boost from the Kinsmen Foundation with the receipt of a $1 million donation. The gift was part of the proceeds from this year’s TeleMiracle campaign. The bus and its staff have the potential to help thousands of women with breast screening and early detection of breast cancer that will ultimately save lives.  

SIFF Monday schedule gets showing on Thursday

Due to technical difficulties at the Monday screening of films at the Saskatchewan International Film Festival, the entire slate of films will be reshown at Reel Attractions on Thursday, October 19 beginning at 3:00 pm. The screenings will continue as listed on the original playlist for last Monday.

The SIFF and Reel Attractions regret the unavoidable circumstance, but they invite film goers to return to the theatre for an extended festival run.

 

Get set for an evening of magic in Muenster with Roger Boucher

Get set for an evening of misdirection, mirth … and mainly magic out in Muenster this Saturday. Roger Boucher will amaze and delight the audience with sleight of hand and grand illusion in a show for adults. It’s non-stop audience interactive fun that will have you talking long after the show is done.  

The show is a fundraiser for the Muenster Cooperative Childcare Centre and is for ages 19 and older. Food and drinks will be available. 

A cavalcade of colours at Gallery's Members Show and Sale

A wonderful Saturday afternoon turnout of artists and art lovers were on hand at the Members Art Show and Sale Reception at the Humboldt Gallery. The works were as varied as the artists and their interests with something for everyone.  

Cultural programmer Geneva Grest greeted those in attendance, inviting them to meet the artists and talk about the work over refreshments.  

ICYM - Members' Show and Sale on now at the Gallery

The Humboldt and District Gallery is pleased to announce the seventh annual Members’ Show and Sale which will be on display at the Gallery until Friday, November 3, 2023.

A release from the Gallery state that the show is a demonstration of the incredible talents of Humboldt & District Gallery Members. There are 38 artists participating, and over 90 pieces of artwork displayed in a wide variety of mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, quilting, and mixed media works.

Wynyard Golden Bears collected over 500 lbs in food for annual Tackle Hunger Game

The Wynyard Golden Bears junior football team hosted the Foam Lake Panthers in their annual Tackle Hunger Game, which was played on October 10 under the lights on George Lamb Field. 

Players and spectators were challenged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Wynyard and District Food Bank. 

In total, 542 lbs of food and monetary donations were collected throughout the night. Sofina Foods was on hand to help the food bank volunteers with collecting and organizing donations, selling 50/50 tickets, and helping with the BBQ. 

CANCELLED - Dangerous person alert for Montreal Lake Cree Nation area

RCMP have cancelled the dangerous persons alert for Montreal Lake Cree Nation issued by the Saskatchewan RCMP as they say there is no current immediate risk to public safety identified.

At this time, one individual has been taken into custody.

29-year-old Justice Bird from has not been located. He is described as being 5’9” and weighing approximately 166 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes and has several facial tattoos. Last known to be wearing a white ball cap and black and white clothes. The public should remain vigilant.

RCMP responds to incident in residential neighbourhood

Humboldt RCMP would like to advise there was an increased police presence at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 10th Street in Humboldt this morning.

There is no threat to the public in relation to this incident and no further details will be shared at this time.
