Alberta's latest crop report shows provincially 73 per cent of the 2025 crop is now in the ground.

Crop emergence is progressing well, with 32 per cent of all crops emerged, well above the 5-year average of 16 per cent. Emergence is furthest ahead in the South and Central regions among major crops, with over 45 per cent of spring wheat and peas having emerged. Fall-seeded crops are in good condition, with 70 per cent rated good to excellent provincially.
The recent rainfall and cooler temperatures have brought much needed moisture, soil moisture conditions are favourable for crop emergence and early growth across most areas.
According to the report, some parts of the Central Region reported up to 3 inches of rain last week, which has enhanced surface soil moisture. While surface moisture conditions have improved across all regions, sub-surface soil moisture has also shown increases in most areas. Pasture growth conditions are rated provincially as 7 per cent poor, 28 per cent fair, 59 per cent good, and 5 per cent excellent.
