The Picture Butte Feeder Co-op (PBFC) in Alberta is fully operational again.

The Feeder Associations of Alberta note that this has been an exceptionally trying time for the PBFC's members, whose operations were put on hold through no fault of their own.

Earlier this year, the province suspended the group's access to the Feeder Association Loan Guarantee Program (FALGP) following an investigation and concerns relating to financial mismanagement and regulatory issues.

The program is designed to support new entrants, facilitate sector growth, and help diversify the economy by providing access to effective, low-cost financing for small and midsize livestock producers.

The Picture Butte Feeder Cooperatives have now been cleared to operate. A new supervisor has been hired, profit payments are being processed, and normal lending activities began again on Monday.

The PBFC's new supervisor, Cody McBride has an extensive background with livestock, finance, and feeders associations.

The Feeder Associations of Alberta says it will be working with the minister and regulatory services on improving the Feeder Association Loan Guarantee Program (FALGP).
