The heavy rain has caused many sports fields to become semi-flooded.

As the rain pours down over Fort Saskatchewan, the city has closed its sports fields.

The temporary closure was made after the wind and rain rendered the field's conditions unplayable.

"When we get this much volume of rain, the sports fields become a safety hazard," said Jenelle Hart, parks services manager with The City of Fort Saskatchewan. "Players can slip and slide on the surface, potentially causing injury [to themselves], and damage to the field."

These fields include all sports fields and baseball diamonds, including but not limited to Taurus Field, the Turner Park diamonds, and the Fort High football field.

For those looking to disregard this update, users will take on full responsibility for any injury or damages that may be had during their time on the baseball diamond or field.

This closure will be updated on Wednesday (June 15).
