Free tickets to Pope Francis's Mass at Commonwealth Stadium were fully booked in under 20 minutes.

The stop in Edmonton on July 26, is part of his tour to apologize for the abuse suffered by Indigenous people at the hands of the Catholic Church. The Mass is set to incorporate Indigenous traditions and hold up to 65,000 attendees.

Pope Francis's itinerary in Alberta from July 24 to 27:

  • June 24 - Arrive at Edmonton International Airport.
  • July 25 - Travel to the community of Maskwacis to meet with First Nations, Métis and Inuit people in the area. Following his stop in Maskwacis, he will travel back to Edmonton to meet with Indigenous people and members of the Parish Community of Sacred Heart.
  • July 26 - Mass at Commonwealth Stadium and ending in Lac Ste. Anne, where he will participate in a pilgrimage and Liturgy of the Word.
  • July 27 - Leave Edmonton

While his stay in Alberta will be short, the Pope will remain in Canada longer, as he will also visit Quebec and Nunavut.

More tickets for the Edmonton Mass are set to be released on Friday.
