Wynyard surveying residents for vision of new aquatic facility

The Town of Wynyard recently announced their intention to build a new aquatic facility in the community. 

Last year, a major leak in the paddling pool forced the closure of the facility during the summer. After consulting with technicians, the town was told it would cost a minimum of $50,000 and that no crew would be available to work on the repairs until 2026. Following the repairs, a new liner would cost approximately $ 40,000.  

Provincial government introduces new measures to protect communities from fentanyl and methamphetamine

The Saskatchewan Government has introduced their latest measures to combat illicit fentanyl and methamphetamine production, transportation, trafficking and street use within the province.  

In a news release, the provincial government says these measures will provide tools to remove fentanyl and methamphetamine in communities along with prevention of street-level use to protect all residents. 

Brayden Skogstad recognized as Humboldt Broncos RBC Community Ambassador

Just before the start of Saturday night’s Humboldt Broncos game, forward Brayden Skogstad was named the team’s RBC Community Ambassador.  

Players selected as RBC Community Ambassadors are recognized for making a difference and giving back to the community that they live in. Along with the honour, a $1,000 donation will be made to a school in the community. 

Premier Moe leading trade mission to Washington

With the possibility of tariffs imposed by the United States becoming closer to a reality, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe will lead a delegation of businesses and organizations to Washington D.C. The delegation will be meeting with business leaders and decision makers of the U.S. 

The delegation will include representatives from Cameco, Evraz, Arizona Lithium, Cenovus, Whitecap Resources, Enbridge, North American Helium and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. 

Broncos announce commitment from Kayson Christian for upcoming season

With an eye towards the future, the Humboldt Broncos announced the commitment of 2007-born forward Kayson Christian for the upcoming 2025-26 season.  

The Lethbridge AB product is currently in his third season Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA program where he serves as the team’s captain and has 41 points (18G-23A) in 36 games.  

Listed at 6’0 and 170 lbs, Christian has been playing U18 AAA since he was 15.  

A battle of thoroughbreds as Broncos and Mustangs rivalry heats up

One of the top rivalries in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) is back on the ice tonight as the Humboldt Broncos head to Melfort to meet the Mustangs.  

The teams will finish off their season series tomorrow in Humboldt.  

Melfort is the lone SJHL squad the Broncos have been unable to register a victory against this season. The Mustangs swept the previous home-and-home set back in December.  

Humboldt Broncos Alumni Game: A nostalgic tribute to the team's storied past

Nobody was sporting Cooperalls, but the full history of the Humboldt was on display last Saturday afternoon during the alumni game at the Elgar Petersen Arena.  

Players from six different decades (1970s-2020s) travelled back to Humboldt for the weekend, giving fans of all ages a chance to see their favourites don the Broncos jersey at least one more time.  

Just under 40 former Broncos took part in the game. 

Humboldt's AJ Paulsen commits to the Broncos for the 2025-26

A local product has committed to the Humboldt Broncos for the upcoming 2025-26 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season. 

On Friday, the Broncos announced the commitment of 2007-born defenceman AJ Paulsen. 

The Humboldt native is in his first season with the Prairie Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep Program and has posted 15 points (2G-13A) in 31 games this season.
