Short burst of summer heat to peak on Tuesday

Enjoy a brief taste of the summer heat this week. 

After a beautiful Sunday, the heat is expected to stick around on Monday and will peak on Tuesday with the temperature around 30° and with the humidex it will feel a few degrees warmer.  

Meteorologist for Environment and Climate Change Canada Eric Dykes says that over the next couple of days, the weather will be warmer than usual for this time of year. 

Watrous RCMP investigating a theft from a farm near Lockwood

The Watrous RCMP is asking the public's assistance as they're seeking information about a robbery that occurred on a farm near Lockwood.

A number of items were taken including:

- Air compressor - Grey color - 5'0 inch height - double piston.
- 2 x 20 foot light logen chains - 2 x horse saddle - brown color.
- 3 x Tool boxes - Black, silver, and Grey box. - Electric winch.
- Front end loader - quad runner - black color.
- Snow mobile trolley 7 ft, black ( new in box ).
- Drill press - Grey color.
- Flashlight - Quonset- white color.

Canada Summer Games Recap: Saskatchewan falls to Quebec 9-4 in Men's Baseball, to play in bronze medal game

Team Saskatchewan's Men's Baseball teams hope for a Gold Medal were dashed today in St. John's Newfoundland at the Canada Summer Games as Quebec defeated Saskatchewan 9-4. 

Pryor Dyck of Watrous got the start. He lasted 2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits.  

Cade Britz of Muenster had an RBI in the loss.  

The best of the CFL collide in Regina as the Roughriders host the Ti-Cats

 

In the 1989 Grey Cup, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats faced off in what many Canadian football fans regard as the greatest game in Canadian Football League (CFL) history. 

And while it’s only the middle of August, it seems the two teams could be on a path to meet in the Grey Cup again, as they lead their respective divisions near the midway point of the 2025 regular season. 

Royals open SSBL Playoffs with 4-2 loss to Saskatoon Outlaws

The Marysburg Royals began the 2025 Saskatchewan Senior Baseball League (SSBL) Playoffs on the wrong side of the scoreboard with a 4-2 loss to the Saskatoon Outlaws on Monday night. 

Thomas Lessmeister pitched a complete game for the Royals, tossing seven innings, allowing a pair of earned runs and eight hits while recording four strikeouts. 

The Outlaws scored all of their runs in the first two innings. 

SPSA: Recent rainfall has little impact on wildfires

While it was a wet weekend for most of Saskatchewan, most of the rainfall didn’t reach their northern section of the province that is experiencing the wildfires.  

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency said in their latest wildfire update on Monday that the recent rainfall only had a limited impact on the wildfires.  

Broncos to play in seven preseason games

Before the Humboldt Broncos and the rest of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) drop the puck on the 2025-26 regular season, they will work off the summer rust in the preseason. 

On Monday, the SJHL announced the 2025 Preseason schedule 

The Broncos will play in seven exhibition games in total, with four on the road and three at the Elgar Petersen Arena.
