50 Years of Progress: PAMI commemorates milestone anniversary
It was a celebration of both the past and the future on Thursday afternoon at Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI) with their 50th Anniversary celebrations.
The day included demonstrations of some of the tests that have been done at PAMI over the years, an open house, tours and some food trucks.
Hammerheads bring home more medals from two events
The Humboldt Hammerheads enjoyed a successful weekend at a pair of swim meets.
On Saturday, three swimmers from the Hammerheads competed at the Mintenko Summerfest Swim Meet in Moose Jaw with each swimmer leaving the event with a medal.
The following day, 34 swimmers from the Hammerheads travelled to Regina and it was another strong showing for the Hammerheads. Swimmers that finished on the podium included:
City of Humboldt greenlights purchase to replace aging CSO vehicle
At Monday’s City Council Meeting, the City of Humboldt approved a motion to purchase a vehicle for the Community Safety Officer (CSO) to replace the current vehicle.
The vehicle purchased by the City of Humboldt is a fully equipped 2016 Dodge Charger. Currently the CSO uses a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation launches efforts to help deal with growing gopher population
The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) will be looking to eliminate the concerns of the growing gopher population with the blessing from the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM).
This is being done because gophers cause crop loss and land degradation which affect the province’s producers and landowners. The SWF will be connecting with landowners with members who can assist and deal with gopher numbers in reasonable and ethical fashion.
SPSA presents update on wildfires
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) released an update on the wildfire situation in northern Saskatchewan on Wednesday.
As of 2:00 pm, there are 19 active wildfires in the province. Of those active wildfires, two are categorized, five are not contained, nine are ongoing assessments, and three are listed as protecting values.
Timeline announced for ditch mowing and hay salvage
The Saskatchewan Government has announced the resumption of the ditch mowing and hay salvage program for the upcoming year.
Key dates include:
-Prior to and including July 8, landowners or lessees adjacent to a highway ditch have the first option to cut or bale hay.
Humboldt Broncos 2025-26 regular season schedule
Earlier this week we found out the Humboldt Broncos will open the 2025-26 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) regular season with a home-and-home set against the Warman Wolverines.

Groundbreaking day for new daycare facility in Lanigan on Thursday
Exciting news that has been brewing for months now will become a reality in Lanigan.
The sod turning ceremony to signal the beginning of construction of the new Daycare facility in the community will take place on Thursday night.
Along with the sod turning ceremony, there will be a barbecue fundraiser with the proceeds going towards the new building.

A former equipment manager of the Humboldt Broncos has added another championship to his résumé.
Ramandeep “Chico” Dhanjal was on the bench with the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL) as they claimed the Calder Cup defeating the Charlotte Checkers in a thrilling six-game series on Monday night.
