Bruno Show and Shine rolls into 19th Year with fun for all ages
It will be a day full of free family fun on Sunday in Bruno with the Show and Shine returning with its 19th edition.
Registration runs from 9-12 am, with the car show taking place from 9 am- 3 pm.
Chairman Brian Krentz says one of the top features at the Bruno Show and Shine is having the car show on the grass surface at the Bruno Sports Grounds.
Wednesday's wildfire update
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency issued the latest update on the wildfire situation in northern Saskatchewan on Wednesday afternoon.
As of 11:00 am, there are 50 active wildfires in Saskatchewan. Of those active fires, four are categorized as contained, 14 are not contained, 14 are ongoing assessments, and 18 are listed as protecting values.
Saskatchewan boosts health workforce with 77 new positions
77 new and enhanced full-time positions will be added by the Saskatchewan Government and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) that will serve 30 communities in the province.
Since 2022, 315 new and enhanced positions have been added as part of the provincial Health Human Resources Action Plan.
Firearms offences and violent crime on the rise in Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction
According to the annual crime statistics from Statistics Canada, there has been an increase in firearms offences and violent crime across the province along with the number of victims continuing to climb.
There were approximately 6,700 more victims of reported violent crime than 10 years ago – a 45 per cent increase within Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction.
Watrous Lakers capture 15U AA Tier 3 Provincial Title in dominant fashion
The 15U Watrous Lakers won the 15U AA Tier 3 Provincial Championship on the weekend in Unity.
It was a slow start for the Lakers on Friday as they were defeated in their first game against the Southern Aces 11-6.
They rebounded on Saturday, picking up a 12-7 win over the Neilburg Monarchs and a 9-2 victory over the Kindersley Royals.

Positive results emerging from pharmacist-led treatment pilot
The Saskatchewan Government has touted the pilot project that allows participating pharmacists to conduct point-of-care testing for strep throat and assess ear infections to be a success.
Launched in January, the project has delivered over 3,000 services across the province.
Rosebud Royals advance to National Championships
It was a perfect weekend for the Rosebud Royals as they ran the table at the 15U Open Fastpitch Boys Championship on the weekend in Saskatoon.
The Royals claimed the 2025 provincial championship, defeating the Valley Blue Jays 3-2 in the championship final.
On Friday, the Royals began the tournament defeating the Prince Albert Astros 11-7. They followed that up with an 11-0 win over Valley.
Humboldt to host 11U AA Tier Baseball Provincial Championships
With the provincial baseball championships just around the corner, Sask Baseball has announced the host venues for the majority of the tournaments.
Humboldt will be the host sire for the 11U AA Tier 1 Championships from Friday, July 18 until Sunday, July 20 in a nine-team tournament.
Watrous will host the 11U AA Tier 3 championships, from July 18-20 also a nine-team tournament.
Ruedig and Elke named to Sask Hockey U16 Top 34 camp
Sask Hockey has announced the camp lineup for the U16 Top 34 camp with a couple of local players making the list.
Defenceman Kohen Ruedig from Humboldt and Kash Elke from Lanigan were named to the camp.
The Top 34 camp is the last stage before the selection of the roster that will represent Team Saskatchewan at the WHL Cup in October.
