After being kidnapped as child, man's niece finds him after 70 years

A man in his 70s recently discovered his long-lost family after he was abducted as a 6-year-old boy in California. 

In 1951, Luis Armando Albino was playing at the park with his older brother, Roger. A woman walked up to Albino and kidnapped him. Albino's family didn't know what happened or if their child was alright. 

Winnipeg missionary shares how God is moving in South America

Winnipeg missionary Pamela Walford is helping bring sustenance to bodies and souls in South America through ministry. 

"Right now we are working with a food bank, that's initially how we got started," says Walford, lead missionary with Tru Pasi. "Now it's much broader than that. Tru Pasi is Surinamese for True Path. This ministry is focusing on reaching out to the neediest people in Suriname, and meeting their needs so they can see the love of Jesus."

This week roughly 5,000 Christian leaders from around the world are gathering in South Korea to talk about sharing the gospel as the body of Christ. 

The theme for this year's Lausanne 4 event is “Let the Church Declare and Display Christ Together,” Lausanne 4, and focuses on what evangelism looks like up to 2050. It is running Sept. 22-28 in Incheon. 

'Women are strong pillars': Women's conference happening this weekend

A biannual event which encourages women from across Winnipeg and surrounding areas to come together from all walks of life is back for a fourth event.

The Woman Everywhere Conference is a two-day event which features inspiring speakers, fun activities, and a time of worship. 

Marta Bhopalsingh, who serves on the organizing committee says, "The vision came through our associate pastor's wife, to start women's gathering twice a year."

Square One World Media producing new programs, including two new Indigenous shows

A Christian media ministry is creating even more gospel-focused content for people in Winnipeg and around the world. 

Square One World Media, based out of Winnipeg, Man., focuses on producing Christ-centered media through radio, television, and the internet. They currently produce this media in seven different languages including English, Low German, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Persian, and Arabic.

First-year student enrolment at CMU up nearly 40% year-over-year

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) in Winnipeg has experienced a substantial uptick in year-over-year enrolment. President Cheryl Pauls says numbers are up ten per cent across undergraduate and graduate programs, with particularly strong enrolments from a first-year students perspective. There are several other metrics also showing a strong rebound this school year.

Bible college students help out Steinbach family with flooded basement

A Manitoba family is giving thanks after a group of Bible college students came to their rescue following flooding in their home.

Last week Steinbach was hit hard by rain with a little over six inches of rain falling within 24 hours, and all that that rain has to go somewhere. In a lot of cases, that rain went into people’s houses.
