After the founder and former pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, Robert Morris, confessed to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl back in the 80s, he quit his job on June 18, 2024. Filling in the gap, Morris' son, James, took the pastoral position shortly after.

Eliezer Reyes, a 23-year-old, was driving around with his girlfriend when he noticed a house in the area had smoke billowing out of it. Instead of continuing on to his destination, Reyes drove straight for the house.

Three members of the Grammy-nominated gospel band, The Nelons, died in a tragic plane crash Friday afternoon in Wyoming.
The family group were on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when tragedy struck.
The crash claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges. The pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa were also killed in the crash.

Peace talks on the horizon for Sudan conflict
The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Sudan have agreed to US-mediated peace talks. The RSF and the Sudanese army will meet in Switzerland on August 14 to discuss a possible end to the conflict, which has raged for over a year and displaced nearly 10 million people.
